seems like the running game is fine as long as we do it more often |

Our constant telegraphing of plays via personnel groupings kills most of our opportunities to run the ball effectively.
As an example, when Sproles is lined up deep, he's expected to be the dump off receiver, which telegraphs pass. All our best runs are student body sweeps using Sproles, because the defense isn't adjusted to that kind of play. When PT or Ingram are in, our overwhelming tendencies are to run, so adjustments are to run blitz, controlling the edges for any (highly unlikely) cutback. Neither PT nor Ingram bounce away from play designed holes, so if the O-Line doesn't create an improbably hole given the defense's reaction to personnel groupings, then we won't run effectively. If we split either out wide like we do Sproles, then we may get more favorable matchups. But we don't so we won't. |

I like establishing the run first...but we just have a hard time doing that..our backs get keyed on all the time..i know some is O-Line letting backfield penetration..but i think Ds tend to know when to stack the box or blitz Drew more often than in the past..I dunno just my observation so far.. I wish we would runs some 2 back sets, and send the FB in motion some and use him to help keep the chains moving..remember when Karney was here and we used that to kill Dallas..where did it go..lol |
