Trade??

08's article:

Just three seasons removed from one of the most controversial and bizarre draft day spectacles in the history of the NFL, it appears that the team from the Big Easy is ready for more of the same. Anonymous sources close to the Saints’ brass have reported that New Orleans, which holds two picks in the second round, thanks to the Turley trade with the Rams, is prepared to offer both second round picks and its first round pick (#18) to San Diego for the right to pick first. The source wasn’t able to pinpoint the target of the Saints manuevering; however there is widespread speculation that the Saints could be learning what Indy knew several years back when they picked a Manning first overall;
that is: a Manning under center equals wins for an organization. It is believed , that under the tutelage of seasoned veteran Aaron Brooks, Manning could be the franchise savior that former coach Mike Ditka envisioned Ricky Williams to be. Many experts believe that Aaron Brooks would garner at least a first round pick in a trade. Some say just a first round wouldn’t be enough for the gunslinger out of Virginia, who once served as a Brett Farve backup. They believe that a package deal with a first round pick and top LB or CB included would be a fair if not good deal to perspective suitors of Brooks’ talents. Washington Redskins new head coach Joe Gibbs is said to be so enamored with Brooks, that a first round pick and disgruntled CB Champ Bailey as a trade to finish off the package deal would be acceptable if it were doable this season (2004). Attempts to reach Chargers headquarters were unsuccessful
"Book 'em" Danno:

Let me get this straight...

#1, #2A and 2B for Eli
Then trade Brooks for a 1st and a stud corner like Bailey?

So basically we'd get swap Brooks for Eli for what amounts to one of our 2nd's, since we were going to use an early pick on a corner already?

I like Brooks alot, but I'd take that deal in a flash.

Get: Eli, Bailey and a 1st.
Lose: Brooks a 1st and two 2nd round picks.

No way thats for real.
BNB:
I agree, Danno, as much as I would like to believe that this is real, I'm having a hard time thinking this is anything beyond vapor. I'd take the Redskins 1st and try to trade down to the middle of the 1st round and pick up a few more picks as well.

I agree guys, it's not real PROBABLE, but that's not to say it isn't real. I mean, this is what the Saints could WANT. They were DEMANDING a first rounder and maybe more for Turley at this time last year. They won't get THIS deal, but they could get a similar one. The fact that there is all this talk about it makes me wonder though.

Trade??

Doesn\'t bother me- if anyone would put together something like that to get the more gullible Saints fans\' hopes up, it would be those sorry Falcons fans.

Yeah, maybe. How often do people on this board make up stories on the off chance that someone from another team\'s board will come here and be fooled by it? We\'re always too busy arguing amongst ourselves and we had twice as many wins as the Falcons. I think they have better things to do than make stories up, but you never know.

Trade??

Not Saint related but interesting to see what the final deal for Eli might include , this note has the Steelers not going after Eli .

Ed Bouchette writes that San Diego wants to trade the first selection in this year\'s NFL draft, and that the Steelers could get it for two first-round picks and two second-round picks. The consensus top choice is Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning. Bold moves like that can push mediocre teams to the top. But the Steelers will make no such trade, because they\'re content with mediocrity. The Steelers are going to miss the playoffs for at least one more year. Too many holes to fill. They should accept that likelihood, get Eli Manning and aim for legitimate Super Bowl contention further down the road
