SAINTS TV AD CAMPAIGN NAMED BEST IN SPORTS
January 29, 2004
New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints today announced that their 2003 television advertising campaign was selected as the best TV campaign in all of sports at the 2004 National Sports Forum ADchievement Awards. The award was presented on Jan. 27 at the National Sports Forum Dinner Gala in Chicago.

The 2003 New Orleans Saints advertising television campaign - created in conjunction with Peter A. Mayer Advertising, Inc. in New Orleans - went head-to-head against five other finalists in the television category. Attendees of the conference voted the Saints as No. 1 over the television ad campaigns of the Chicago White Sox, the PGA Tour and Russell Athletic.

"The Saints organization is honored to receive this prestigious award that identifies our 2003 television advertising campaign as the best in all of sports," said Saints Executive Vice President of Administration Arnold D. Fielkow. "Our campaign certainly was well-received both internally and externally for its witty portrayal of Saints fans and Saints players. The campaign also helped bring positive results, as evidenced by the club-record 53,520 season tickets we sold last season (up from approximately 38,000 in 2002)."

The Saints were also finalists in the radio and billboard categories - making them just one of four teams (the others are the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball, and the Toledo Mudhens of baseballs International League) that were selected as a finalist in three of five categories for the ADchievement Awards.

The underlying theme for the 2003 Saints advertising campaign was "Don't you wish every day was game day?" and included a variety of television, radio and billboard spots highlighting this message. The Saints took the size, speed and game day experience of the NFL into everyday life in last year's TV campaign leading up to the 2003 season. The quick feet of Saints wide receiver Jerome Pathon carried a tardy child to his departing school bus, and hard-hitting defensive end Darren Howard smashed an office vending machine. In another television spot, a low-level office worker was cheered on through everyday tasks - such as making copies - by the Saints' cheerleaders, the Saintsations.

Any problems about speculation in having a winning season , will have to be taken up directly with Benson ..... ;)
