There is only one true golden boy in the NFL, and that's Tom Brady. Tuck rule anybody, not to mention he got the rule changed, where you cant hit a QBs leg.

Compared to Brady, and to some degree Manning, it is open season on Brees.

What Ben got right is The Saints without Drew would be a major problem and yeah Brady with the Pats. It is brutal to see what happened to Indy without Manning. As far as Ref protection I'm not seeing that one the same. Drew has been hit a lot this year and have yet to see a Ref help him up or throw excessive flags.

Actually he has a very valid point.
...but there comes a price. If your call a game on a QB who takes off and runs the ball that changes the rules. If the officials over time and familiar with the QB taking off and running they allow certain things to add that element to the QB's game. I see it when the call Eagles games where Vick is allowed to make a second chance when running or diving to get an extra yard, he isn't down but they don't call him in the grasp to protect him. This is Vicks problem he created by allowing himself to be a running QB. Unlike if the QB is known to pass first mentality. You see Refs quick to stop the play and quicker to call roughing the QB penalties. It is a double edge sword. |
