METAIRIE, La. – For years, we’ve seen Saints quarterback Drew Brees call audibles at the line of scrimmage, shifting a bad play into one that succeeds.

Turns out, his audibles don’t stop on the field.

They’ve moved into his everyday life.

And Saturday night, he might have called the biggest audible of his life to date.

No beef in the macaroni? No problem. Brees, per usual, figured out a solution.

Coach Sean Payton explains.

“I sit down and I’m eating the spaghetti and the pizza and whatever and finally Drew comes in and I say, ‘Hey, we got a little issue here,’ and he’s like, ‘What’s that,’ and I said, ‘Ah, never mind,’ ” Payton said.

“So then I watching him and I watch him and I watch him and I watch him and he’s kind of meandering around, so then he goes into plan B. He takes a hamburger patty and chops it up over spaghetti and tries to make this homemade beefy mac and I guarantee you it was on the menu list that had to be prepared and they didn’t get it done and so, hey, it’ll be the last time we’re there.”
