Tony Gonzales will go down as one of the greats at his position. But, the dude has earned a few Oscar nominations for his acting ability. Over the years, I've seen him draw a lot of flags that shouldn't have been thrown. He knows how to fall down and make it look convincing to the refs.
As for the Dirty Birds, as a whole, there's a reason they're called the Dirty Birds. We don't like 'em! |

Hard to accuse Gonzales of flopping when our own wonder boy Graham has turned in some horribly acted flops himself. As far as the Dirty Birds, they are just that.

Atlanta is taught by their coaches to play dirty.......they know it, we know and it looks like everyone else is picking up on that.

As far back as I can remember, the "FLA-CONS" have played dirty. Can't remember ever being able to tolerate them. They're nasty, and they smell! And their coach is a big whiney baby who always looks like he's about to blow a gasket on the sidelines. Yes, they seem to always "get" the calls to their good, and they definitely do NOT deserve them. Mattie Ice is highly over-rated, too!

Yes, it is a very deliberate thing they do, it's their mentality as a team, and I think now that they have been getting some media attention, more and more people from around the league and the country, are starting to see with their own eyes what Saints fans have known for a looooong time.
That quasi-fracas that happened before the kickoff at the Falcons/Lions game -- that was totally done on purpose, it was just stupid stuff to try and psych out the Lions and get inside their heads. It started when the Falcons basically ran out the visitors' tunnel and ran straight into the big huddle/crowd of Lions players who had just been introduced, where the visiting team clearly weren't supposed to be, just to mess with them. How stupid is that? It's like they're mentally two years old. So whenever the Falcons are outmatched on talent, they always do stunts like that, to try and get the other team rattled, or to get the refs scared of there being a bench-clearing brawl. And their fans LOVE the dirty stuff. They cheer on their dirty players as their favorites -- the dirtier they are and the more fights and fines they get into, the better they are liked by the fans. They loved Harvey Dahl when he was on their team. Dunta Robinson is a fan fave of theirs, and he gets fines for spearing or illegal hits all the time, multiple infractions,so you can see it's obviously on purpose and not an accident. Another thing I've seen the Falcons will do, that's related to the fighting and after-the-whistle stuff -- they will actually intimidate and berate the officials into giving them calls later in the game. They are one of the only teams I have seen, where you will see the players actually jawing at the refs after the play is over, as well as jawing at the other team. And I don't mean just the occasional "aww man, come on!" at a bad call, or looking around for a flag.... I mean sometimes on ordinary plays you will see Falcon players actually getting up in the refs' faces and yelling, violently pounding the ball in their fists, making gestures, getting up in their grill, etc. It is amazing that the refs let them get away with this stuff, but the Falcons do it all the time now, all game long. |

Strange how the Falcons that play dirty are the one's *itching, moaning and crying about how Suh and the Lions "allegedly" made fun of Fatty Lice when he was on the field after his stupid lineman stepped on him ... like Heath Evans said today, shut up and play football

I'm still pissed off about them getting Julio Jones. He played right down the street from me and he's a really good kid.
Gawd its tough to pull for anyone wearing that Falcon uniform. |
