this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I would think we would need an upgrade in the LB position. Saw this on NFL.com and wondered why. Andy Tanner (WR) practice squad addition. Swanson Miller (DT) practice squad deletion. NFL Transactions Report...

I assure you that there are not any free agent LB upgrades floating around out there. There are teams in worse shape than us in that department. Practice squad players would be more likely to be used as a special teams fill in rather than as a "position" player if needed at all. A WR can be utilized as a gunner on the kicking squad or as a returner on the kicking squad.

Andy's been on and off the PS all year hasn't he?
Can't run our starting WR's to death in practice. |

Apparently the best offense Equals a good defense.
I don't see us upgrading at LB by adding someone to the practice squad. I am all for giving Tanner a pay check. He wasn't bad in camp. Having WR on the practice squad imo is a plus. Get them out there running routes and catching passes building a re pore that is needed with Bree's and it takes time to develop WR's. |

He'll be gone again next week most likely. That's life in the NFL.

Tanner's been around a while. I liked him in the preseason but he definitely has that Chase Lyman vibe about him.

it might have to do with what the coaching staff wants to simulate during the week. PS player oftentime takes on a role of trying to mimic a certain player from the other team during the week. A friend of mine bounced around on the Packers, Cowboys and Bengals PS and he had to study and try to imitate certain players, style and tendencies, for the O/D to prepare for.
