My Theory...
I went back and looked at the game...
Saints came out and was going to run the score up from the get go. They came out firing and the Rams D was prepared and wasn't having it. Our D well it was what it has been since Seattle and Rams took advantage of them by taking it to our DE's and OLB's. Saints had no answers and continued to open it up and didn't counter with any changes until it was really to late. The Rams D was obviously fired up they were in the game. They totally discounted the Rams. Shame on them. |

They had more energy from the start, the Saints were never in it. We never recovered from the blocked punt and TD when it was 10-0.

The thing about the D is, well, late in the 2nd quarter they were put in bad spots. I mean, I'm always prepared to bash our D because I think we can all agree we had the expectation that it would be improved and clearly it is not.
Still, blunders by our Special Teams and our Offense sure didn't do the D any favors on Sunday. |

Sometimes a humbling lesson is necessary. The fact that the Cardinals won the world series was also motivation for them as well as the 0-6 record. Long was unblockable, Brees was harried and sacked and the defenses blitzes were picked up and taken advantage of.
We sucked. |

Ram's were simply better than us Yesterday, no if, and's or but's about it.
They Ram's came Prepared, energized, and most of all needed something to motivate them for the rest of the season, had they lost another game and gone 0-7 there was no possible way of them even looking at the Wildcard or playoff picture, the rest of the season would be virtually pointless to go on other than dignity and stats. We got our asses handed to us, it was a trap game and we fell right into it.. Saints are the perfect team for trap game's 99.5% of the time we lose Trap games.. We fan's have gotten spoiled to the fact that this team really never came out of that funk.... |

Any given Sunday one NFL team can beat another. That's that. 0-6 or undefeated, it doesn't matter - any team can beat the next.
Saints underperformed and looked unprepared - in a funk. All credit goes to the Rams who handed the Saints their rear ends. Happens all the time in the NFL after a big win. Remember how the Bucs played against us 3 weeks ago? Last week they came out stale and got beat. Happens in the NFL all the time. |

I swear I got flashbacks of the Seahawks game that ended last season.
Looks like Mr. Peabody and Sherman hit the 'Way Back' machine on the Saints... |

I think sometimes our coaching staff tries to get a little too cute. They may have preached to the team that this was a trap game, but we looked vanilla...schematically...from the get go.
They saw this as another opportunity for other teams to get good "tape" on us, so the coaches put together a vanilla game plan, and it backfired. That and the O-line sucked balls. |
