Quote from Phil Jackson:
"In basketball -- as in life -- true joy comes from being fully present in each and every moment, not just when things are going your way." Substitute 'basketball' with 'football' and realize these losing and struggling teams are going to fight us hard (like the Browns did last year) and pull out all the stops to win. All those prior years of torment as a Saints fan should've left you with thick skin. Years ago, we would've been on the other side of this equation - a team with no hope that everybody laughed at but every once in a while we had a shining moment of redeption. We shouldn't be upset when the tables are turned. Yes it can be tempting to think that radical changes are in order, but there is a large degree of patience that comes along with being a lifetime fan. |

I can't speak for anyone here but as a kid [born65] on a black and white T.V. I would get to watch on Sat. Ole Miss. and Sunday's the Saints [ I know I'll catch slack about Ole Miss.] with my Dad, after years and years of losing we got a few good Dome Patrol years then back to losing, then Payton and Brees come to town showed signs of life, playoffs, NFC Championship games, then the Superbowl game,I don't kwow about any of you but as the time started to expire and we had the lead in Miami, tears started streaming down my face. The only thing that could have been better for me that day was my diehard Saints fan Dad could have lived long enough to see us win it all.

I personally get more tired of people telling others to leave when they give honest opinions about the coaches or players when said opinions happen to be negative. The condescending nature of it reminds me of another board. I may completely disagree with anothers opinion but I respect and welcome their right to express it. When the Saints play well, I give them credit. When they don't play well, I voice my opinion on that as well. The Saints stunk top to bottom last week. It was inexcusable. They are not a great team. But, the team that won the Super Bowl was not a great team either. And this team still has the potential to do great things this season. I've been a Saints fan since Archie's rookie season and I will be a Saints fan until they plant me. If you disagree with my opinions, that's cool. But, questioning someone else's fandom that has a differing opinion than yours is just disrespectful and rude. Frankly, it lessens any opinion you may offer.
