GET ON, OR GET OUT!!!! Laundry List!!!!

TOO MUCH DAMN PESIMISM (SP) ROUND HERE
BLEED BLACK AND GOLD OR DON'T BLEED AROUND ME!!!!

- 5 years
- 1 SUPERBOWL WIN ( NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE )
- 2 NFC CHAMPIONSHIP APPERANCES ( NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE )
- 5 years, 3 playoff apperances about to be three straight ( 25+ years before this = 2 ( check that )

How long have you people been Saints fans. It's a loss it counts just like the other ones. Rams made a 7 - 0 game a 17 - 0 game in a 1:42 that was the game. I am in no way saying that this isn't an embarrasing loss, because it was. But being a saints fan, since the early 80's I know one thing, nothing ever comes easy. Lots of Saints ( one in particular) say its over for this season. And honestly he is entitled to his opinion nothing wrong with pesimism (sp) but come on there is no way I will let one freakin loss sway my judgement about this team. Anybody in here think reaching the playoffs three straight years isn't a tremendous accomplishment for this team answer me how many times we have been before Sean Payton. I dare anybody here complaining about being one and done to come and listen to $Houston radio for one week. They haven't been since the days of the Houston Oilers, thats nine years. I'm thankful everyday we go out on the field that we are not them for a long time. I understand frustration. But frustration and Panic are two different things, when and if we get to the playoffs anything can happen, thats why they call it the playoffs. Good Soldiers go down with the ship and if were going down Im going down right next to my team. Enough with all that whining, if you out IM CLOSING THE DOOR BEHIND YOUR ASS,don't try to come back when we make the playoffs, just go rout for your other NFL team!!!!

Sailers go down with ships.

Barry from MS 11-01-2011 06:47 AM

Been on board since late 70's, when I was born. Ain't going nowhere. I get irritated with these teams, even more so when we are a great team on paper. A loss like this last one punched me in the gut, but this team has always managed to do that for 30 plus years. It's just like a marriage; you win a Super Bowl and a couple of playoff games, but you get beat by winless teams and sometimes go 1-15. Strikes and gutters...the dude abides.

Euphoria 11-01-2011 09:28 AM

NOS2SB... you beat me to it.

Sailors are on ships and a few Marines.

Fans have every bit the right to Cheer, compliment and tear the team apart when its fitting and well....

WhoDat!656 11-01-2011 10:56 AM

And rats flee a sinking ship for a new one.

We all knew what you meant. I'm sure that at some point in time there were a few soilders on a sinking ship and they decided to go down with it. ;)

GeauxForMore 11-01-2011 11:29 AM

Im too young to remember the 70's or 80's but I been on the Who Dat ship since the 90's. Im like the postal service rain, sleet, or snow.

strato 11-01-2011 11:30 AM

Never left

Euphoria 11-01-2011 11:30 AM

Actually 70's and most of the 80's we weren't the Who Dats.

CharityMike 11-01-2011 12:47 PM

Still here myself and I was a sailor..lol

Maybe I haven't read all the threads but who is this referring to. I've heard people say things like this topic before. Because we sit here and point out flaws and talk about things that need to be changed, are we being labeled not true fans?

Maverick2299 11-01-2011 02:54 PM

I think every one is a fan on this site. Before 2009, being 5-3 would have been an achievement at this point of the season. But everyone has such high expectations for this team. Everyone knows this team can play better then there record and I think that's what people are upset about.

They know the saints are a good team...but they also know they have the potential to be a great team.

A little side note to ease people over.

In the last 10 years; 2 Superbowl winners have been 10-6, 2 have been 11-5, 3 have been 12-4, 1 have been 13-3 (SAINTS!) and 2 have been 14-2 (Both Patriots)
As long as the Saints can get into the playoffs anything goes.

Belair57 11-01-2011 06:53 PM

since 81....DIEHARD as many of you. nevermind

saintsfan1976 11-01-2011 07:57 PM

The amount of success over the last five years is EXACTLY what leaves me scratching my head after a game like they just had.

Michigan_SF 11-01-2011 08:37 PM

Why is it so hard for some people to be optimistic when the Brees/Payton teams have been the best we've ever had? WTF there are Failcons who have more respect for the Saints right now than some of the fans and that shouldn't seem "realistic" to the "realists" who have the right to share their realistic opinions.

saintsfan1976 11-01-2011 09:19 PM

You know... win, lose or draw it still fun watching them.
Actually, losing can be more interesting than winning since that's when the fans get their freak on.

True fans don't give up on their team after a loss, no matter how unncessary it was.

I know this. No matter how much I may complain about this or that, Im wearing my Breesus jersey on Sunday. In every forum you have the wing nuts that go off the deep end. Let them go. I think the word for them is "bandwagon fan". Best thing I have learned to do is just ignore them.

With as many bad years as we have been through, this is going to be the best decade of football as a Saints fan. I for one am not giving up my seat on the bandwagon!

neugey 11-02-2011 06:54 AM

Quote from Phil Jackson:

"In basketball -- as in life -- true joy comes from being fully present in each and every moment, not just when things are going your way."

Substitute 'basketball' with 'football' and realize these losing and struggling teams are going to fight us hard (like the Browns did last year) and pull out all the stops to win. All those prior years of torment as a Saints fan should've left you with thick skin.

Years ago, we would've been on the other side of this equation - a team with no hope that everybody laughed at but every once in a while we had a shining moment of redeption. We shouldn't be upset when the tables are turned.

Yes it can be tempting to think that radical changes are in order, but there is a large degree of patience that comes along with being a lifetime fan.

Ok but put down the gun first.

And everybody remember:
Atlanta still hasn't won the Superbowl!

halloween 65 11-02-2011 07:30 AM

I can't speak for anyone here but as a kid [born65] on a black and white T.V. I would get to watch on Sat. Ole Miss. and Sunday's the Saints [ I know I'll catch slack about Ole Miss.] with my Dad, after years and years of losing we got a few good Dome Patrol years then back to losing, then Payton and Brees come to town showed signs of life, playoffs, NFC Championship games, then the Superbowl game,I don't kwow about any of you but as the time started to expire and we had the lead in Miami, tears started streaming down my face. The only thing that could have been better for me that day was my diehard Saints fan Dad could have lived long enough to see us win it all.

Cruize 11-02-2011 08:23 AM

I personally get more tired of people telling others to leave when they give honest opinions about the coaches or players when said opinions happen to be negative. The condescending nature of it reminds me of another board. I may completely disagree with anothers opinion but I respect and welcome their right to express it. When the Saints play well, I give them credit. When they don't play well, I voice my opinion on that as well. The Saints stunk top to bottom last week. It was inexcusable. They are not a great team. But, the team that won the Super Bowl was not a great team either. And this team still has the potential to do great things this season. I've been a Saints fan since Archie's rookie season and I will be a Saints fan until they plant me. If you disagree with my opinions, that's cool. But, questioning someone else's fandom that has a differing opinion than yours is just disrespectful and rude. Frankly, it lessens any opinion you may offer.
