Saints/Falcons Snapshot - Falcons analyst review

The Falcons and Saints have put together some matchups to remember in their long, storied history of rivalry. It’s fair to expect another come Sunday when the Saints come to the Georgia Dome, as the two teams matchup extremely well on paper. And in the NFC South, anything can happen — especially when these two teams collide.
Some of Atlanta’s best games in recent years under head coach Mike Smith have come against their Week 10 opponent, the NFC South rival New Orleans Saints.
The 2009 champs have won four of six games since 2008 against the Falcons, but Atlanta has played the Saints perhaps closer and tougher than any team in the league during that span. The average margin of victory in those six games is just less than six points per game.
At times, the New Orleans Saints have been an enigma to game plan for. Under quarterback Drew Brees, the passing attack is dangerous, but during the 2009 season the Saints’ running attack was among the best in the league. That same season the defense was about as good at producing turnovers as anyone.
The 2011 Saints are enigmatic, as well. They followed up a 62-7 dismantling of the winless Indianapolis Colts in Week 7 with a 31-21 loss to the also winless St. Louis Rams in Week 8. Against the Rams, some of the Saints roadblocks were exposed, including their inability to run the football and protect Brees.
New Orleans bounced back last week with a sound 27-16 defeat of the Tampa Bay Bucs. The one thing that should catch the Falcons’ eye is the reinvention of the ground attack. Against the Bucs, they were able to grind out 195 yards on the ground, from a variety of sources. The Saints rely heavily on running back Darren Sproles, who had 99 yards from scrimmage.

Everybody is going to want to pick on Torrence. I think we will adjust, which probably will be more of this crappy zone we keep playing. Torrence is capable of getting picks. Only 3 guys on this team have an Int, and he is one of them.

I also think if Porter is a no go, we might get to see Johhny Patrick in a few packages. He looked pretty good in preseason.
