We need to be on the phone with that guys agent today. It would be a real coup for us to secure Champ to long term deal. Signing Champ would be a MAJOR upgrade to our secondary. Again, giving us more freedom on draft day. I'd cry tears of joy if we could swing Champ. Now we just need to be watching for a LB and a DT to come free. |

I\'ve been readin\' a lot of reports that have the Saints takin\' a LB with their first pick. I\'d also like to see the Saints make a serious play for Champ. I just get the feeling he\'s gonna want WAY too much...we\'ll see...

He rejected a deal that would pay him $7 million a year for the next nine years and maybe $14 million in bonuses. Yeah, he\'s going to cost WAY too much.

Think maybe Champ has lost patience with playing for Dan Snyder and is pricing himself out of the organization?
I agree with TMQ, whenever a player gives the \"I won\'t accept that offer, it\'s insultingly low\" spiel, he ends up playing for less somewhere else. Jeremiah Trotter springs to mind here. I think Champ might find it very persuasive to come to NO and become our defensive god. I wouldn\'t be in favor of just writing the guy off if the truth is he\'s playing a head game with Washington to go play somewhere else. Besides, given Gibbs track record of building non-superstar teams, Champ may be protecting himself from being trade bait to whoever is going to take Cincinnati\'s place as perennial loser?
Took the above quote from Dr. Z. If guys on the defense all feel like Arrington, that might explain why Champ could be pricing himself away from Washington. It might also allow Trotter to escape and we might be able to pick him up for a reasonable contract. [Edited on 14/2/2004 by BrooksMustGo] |

I don\'t know if you remember this but if you have the redskins vs saints game on tape this year it told you the problem as too why champ wants out of Washington. Anyhow in case you don\'t want too dig threw your files the reason is he is sick of washington constantly changing defensive coodinators. There maybe other reasons but thats a main one. :casstet:
