With the break in Saints game action this week as a result of the bye, it makes an opportune time to take brief stock and see where the team is in relation to the 2010 squad, whose season was decent (11-5 and a playoff berth), but ended in Seattle on Wild Card Weekend in most disappointing fashion.

By the end of it, you will have some initial information to help you decide for yourself whether the 2011 Saints are Better Than, Worse Than, or meh, About the Same As the 2010 Saints.

We're definitely in better position leading the division and also with the health of our running backs.

Good read. I agree with Budsdrinker on what he said, those parts are true. The offense has been really good and were healthy, which is great. Our D is in decline from last year I feel, on the bright side their healthy, if the D can pick up their game we will be sitting a lot better. I feel our chances to make a deep, deep run is going to actually rest on the D's shoulders.

If it weren't for a few key injuries we would have been the best team in the NFL last year, and easily destroyed the NFC field on the way to a twodat.

But oh well, if IFs were...

We can break down numbers to try and make these assumptions a little more finite, but in the end, they are just that, assumptions. That being said, I agree a good bit with Danno about last year (Marshawn proved it) and definitely feel that we can do better this year. Believe it or not our O is much better, even though they've sputtered and our D has massive potential. I think we're suffering from the same thing the Eagles are. We have alot of guys that seem to be slowly coming into their own with the way the Saints play football. I think we have a legit shot this year, but if not, next year seems super promising. We're more talented this year for sure, but we're playing at around the same level, and we need to step it up 1 more notch in order to beat Green Bay, whom I feel is our end-all be-all matchup regardless of everything else.

So your saying we are gelling ? i hope so...losing to a 7-9 team last year was horrid.. even with injuries ..G.B had half their team on IR and rolled on through..

I do agree we are better on the 0-line and with a little bit of luck we stay healthy and roll with this home stretch...

With this team and im sure everyone here would agree..we have the talent ..its up to the team as whole to want it...all phases!

We have two really important games coming up at home ..i think they will tell a lot about this team...this is our house we need to defend it..and it starts this Monday..

We're gelling enough to make it to the post season, but not enough to two dat. Our D needs to stop more points and get more turnovers. Our O-line needs to step it up more too. Overall, we're good, and talented, but not championship caliber just yet. I hope we work out the kinks.
