Saints player delivers for Raceland students
By ELORIA NEWELL JAMES NYT Regional Newspapers Mike "The Beer Man" Lewis, a New Orleans Saints player (left) gives 11-year-old Terry Folse a lesson in money management Friday during a talk at Raceland Upper Elementary School. (Eloria Newell/NYTRNG) Zoom RACELAND -- The students and faculty at Raceland Upper Elementary School got a "once in a lifetime" opportunity Friday when a professional football player visited their school. Michael Lewis, a wide receiver and kick returner for the New Orleans Saints is nicknamed"The Beer Man" because he used to drive a beer-delivery truck prior to making the team in 2001. He spoke to the students as part of the school’s Black History Month emphasis and encouraged them to focus on their schoolwork. http://www.houmatoday.com/apps/pbcs....402210327/1026 |
