On Monday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the New York Giants didn’t look anything like a team that was trying to jump into a first-place tie with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East race.

Giants they weren’t. Then again, they haven’t been when they go against the New Orleans Saints.

One of the teams that for years has taken great pride in being physical and hard-nosed was for all intents and purposes cut down to size for the third time in six seasons by the Saints.

The Saints won 30-7 in 2006 in Sean Payton’s first season as their head coach, then crushed Big Blue 48-27 early on in 2009 during a 13-game winning streak that helped launch their Super Bowl XLIV run.

Monday night, it was a 49-24 nationally-televised embarrassment in which the Giants really didn’t have a fighting chance after Eli Manning threw an interception in the end zone to end their first possession.

“We ran into a buzz saw,” Giants defensive end Justin Tuck said. “We had some opportunities and didn’t take advantage of them. They made some big plays, and we weren’t able to do anything we wanted to defensively.”

if we win 3 out of the next 4, including ATL, we win the division, and could rest starters in the last week

of course, if ATL loses one more, and to us, we could win the division at 10-6

if, if, if

Owning the Giants three times in six seasons, all with big blowouts, is a VERY personal thing for Sean Payton. He didn't like the way his coordinator gig ended there. They took away his playcalling, so now he calls the plays for the Saints against them, and rips them to shreds. It's a teachable moment for the Giants front office, that doubted him and let him slip away -- now every couple of years, Payton comes back around and schools them in the art of playcalling and offense, and I think deep down he maybe sorta tries to show the Giants what they could have conceivably had as a head coach or offensive coordinator, but of course they blew it.

I think that may have even been what the fake field goal was sorta about, too. The whole night was a really IN YOUR FACE type of playcalling.

I think we can win out. If we clinch the South early fine, we should rest the starters. The only way I see us not resting the starters is we get a shot at the 1 or 2 seed for the playoffs. I don't like to start talking about playoffs until we are already in, 1 game at a time fellows,1 game at a time, alot can happen. As far as the Falcons I'll talk about how we own their sorry butts 24-7 and their whole team knows who their daddy is. Who-Dat.
