The problem with some fans are they forget that there is another team getting paid to win. Teams are suppose to make plays so someone is going to look bad occasionally. Harper wins a lot of battles. He's our most effective tackler. Personally I think he gets as much love as Devery Henderson. I wouldn't cut either one of them.

You had me until you brought up Henderson.
I like that the Saints have a WR like Henderson available but I haven't heard much from him this year. I'm missing the comparison.

harper is one of the best safeties in the entire league and he doesnt even get the recognition he deserves from his own fan base

will smith is our defensive captain and rightfully so as hes the longest tenured defender on our team and still one of the better DEs in the league

vilma and greer are probably next behind harper and will smith then id have to go with ellis and shanle

i want you guys to realize something about our defensive line......we blitz more than any other team in the league and because of that, we face more max protects than any other team in the league. our pressures are up but our sacks will never be at the top of the league because teams know exactly what we are going to do every play.

because of the guys in our secondary like harper, jenkins, greer, porter, and robinson we are able to send so many guys at the QB. not only does it help us in coverage but it helps us dictate what kind of play the offense has to make

All true ... it also shows we could use better defensive personnel.

CantonLegend 12-04-2011 01:41 PM

harper got trucked by brandon jacobs and you guys are acting like he should be embarrassed

brandon jacobs could truck an elephant over.....how is it embarrassing at all especially considering he was already in the endzone?

woody 12-04-2011 01:49 PM

Greer is a shutdown corner, vilma is good when healthy, Harper is our best playmaker. He forces fumbles, and his hits make receivers think twice when their coming over the middle.

And your Falcons lose again... LMMFAO!!!

woody 12-04-2011 03:33 PM

who are the scrub te's that have owned Harper? Seriously, I can't remember any.

Apparently if a TE catches 1 pass on Harper, that qualifies as owned.

Fans love to hate on both of these players without good reason. Both players know how to play the game, play at a high level and don't complain about their roll.

Devery showed up in the beginning of the season when we were banged up and he had an outstanding game in the Superbowl.

What? You don't like Henderson or something?

foreverfan 12-04-2011 04:58 PM

Is the Falcons season over yet?

halloween 65 12-04-2011 06:32 PM

Yes! The Falcons season has been over from game 1.

homerj07 12-04-2011 07:12 PM

Not GW

foreverfan 12-04-2011 11:07 PM

Well Vilma got the AM WWL 870 player of the game.

You were talking about TE's, now you're talking about a WR on a safety. Totally different. I think you're just trying to start an argument.

Actually he started with Polomalu never getting trucked, and it took me about 8 seconds to prove him wrong.

Then he mentioned scrub TE's abusing him constantly, which he never backed up now he's talking about covering a WR.

He's just trolling, and he's really really bad it it too.

woody 12-05-2011 12:20 AM

oh I hear ya Danno. haha, I read through the thread pretty quick, I didn't realize this was the polomalu guy too!

boonedocksaint 12-05-2011 01:20 AM

wow. not one single first place vote for malcom jenkins!? he's been great this year.

my favorite player, defensive or otherwise, is the vildabeast. so, he gets my vote.

those 10 tackles tonight should quiet all the haters down.

haters gonna hate, right vilma?

Choupique 12-05-2011 06:35 AM

all of them. the back ups too.
heck, the water boy too.

Seer1 12-05-2011 07:27 AM

As was said earlier, Drew is by far the best defensive player followed up by Sproles and Graham. I mean really, they should start up a Bondsman service as often as they're bailing GW out of the hole. We have some real players on defense, but my God, even great players need some kind of help from the sidelines. I've been in GW's camp from the beginning, but after last night's game, won't somebody make sure what kind of fungus is going into his pre-game Cajun mushroom gumbo?

You have to buy Greg Williams some lunch just for keeping this house of cards upright.
We look like a rag tag group of misfits who keep doing just enough to get by.
Had the Lions had any maturity and discipline, at all, this would have been a much different game.
I'm not saying that we would have lost, I'm saying this one was a gift, and I hope it doesn't make us soft.

You can give GW credit if you wish. I'm saying we have the talent we need, they just aren't using it all that well. That points to the people on the sideline. My first Christmas wish for this year is a good DL coach. I'll work out from there.

Harper, although some of his penalties lately have been suspect. Greer and Jenkins after him.

aquaboogie 12-06-2011 01:24 PM

Shaun Rodgers & Sed Ellis! They eat up all of the food so that the rest of the team can't get overweight and out of shape!
