Brooks to the Browns - Rumor
90650. Brooks news (No toenail clipper info)
by UncleLenny, 2/25/04 11:38 ET From wire reports: Aaron Brooks of the New Orleans Saints the athletic five-year veteran was believed to be in transit to Cleveland last evening from Atlanta, Georgia. Calls to representatives for Brooks, the New Orleans Saints, and Cleveland Browns have not been returned. Ironically, it was Ron Wolf that headed-up the Green Bay front office and selected Brooks in the 1999 draft. Brooks was a fourth-round draft choice out of Virginia for the Packers. Brooks was dealt by the Packers to New Orleans for linebacker K.D. Williams and a third-round draft selection prior to the 2000 season. http://www.cleveland.com/forums/browns/ E-L-I....???????? |

Brooks to the Browns - Rumor
This has as much chance of happening as 08 has of becoming Saints GM this offseason (or any offseason for that matter).
The plain fact is that this is a rumor - nothing more. Its origin is probably on the NOLA forum, but the posters to the Cleveland forum are as bad about posting links as some of us are. UncleLenny, the author of the post above, admits that he got the info from a Saints forum. Sounds like the work of some BrooksBashers to me. [Edited on 25/2/2004 by ScottyRo] |

Brooks to the Browns - Rumor
How would such a deal be packaged?
Brooks to the Browns for pick #7 then we offer #7 and #18 to the Chargers? I\'m not certain that the Chargers would take that deal. I\'d feel a lot better if we could talk the Raiders or Cardinals out of their first pick to go get Eli. I\'m just not sure that Brooks would generate that much interest on his own. Especially with Butch Davis--I just don\'t see Butch making a sacrificial trade for another over-hyped, under-performing QB. Steelers might bite though.... |

Oh my lord. Now it has progressed from Eli to Peyton. Unreal.
Saintfan - out of curiosity, where do you think this Brooks talk is coming from? You think that it is all simply unhappy Brooks Bashers just stirring the pot? |

Brooks to the Browns - Rumor
From my reading on the Cleveland forum, it seems to have originated on a Saints forum and I think it is likely that this was started by a Brooks Basher, but that doesn\'t necessarily have to be true. Anybody that dreamed it up would be willing to post it whether or not they are a fan of Brooks.
What I found most interesting was the debate on their forum about Brooks\' value. There are a few that think he\'s worth a 2d round pick, but most want to limit it to a third. Keeping that in mind, in a thread here about a possible trade with SD I seem to remember it being said that for us to get as high as we needed to get Eli, Brooks\' value would need to be mid 1st round. Cleveland fans see him as worth much less than that. They obviously see Brooks as an upgrade and are WOW\'d by his stats, but recognize that he has problems. In the end I see this as a nothing but a rumor started by a fan which has no basis in either organization, but it does help us gain a little perspective on what other fans think of Brooks. |

Brooks to the Browns - Rumor
It\'s the Saintz08 ilk Whodat. If I wanna read BS I\'ll go to certain other boards where nonesense is posted regularly. I come here for something else. Is is just me or do other people recognize that 08\'s posts are almost always hypothetical? The man is a propaganda machine. He has an agenda and he uses this forum to promote it. It\'s all in good fun...I understand that...but jeesh. :casstet:
