PFW reports
New Orleans The Saints are aiming to improve their situation at cornerback either through free agency or the draft, but they still are working to re-sign veteran CBs Fred Thomas and Fakhir Brown. Sources say head coach Jim Haslett wasn’t thrilled with the play of Thomas and Brown last season, but he’s looking to keep at least a little continuity in the secondary next season. That being said, we’re told the Saints are heavily scouting Virginia Tech CB DeAngelo Hall and Ohio State CB Chris Gamble with the hope that one of them will last until the 18th pick in the draft. Last season, the Saints sat in the same position in the draft, only to trade up to the No. 6 overall pick, where they selected DT Johnathan Sullivan. We hear the possibility that the Saints will trade up again this year isn’t quite as strong as it was last year, but if they did make a move, it could include dealing WR Donté Stallworth, who has been a disappointment for the team.
