The franchise tag restricts Howard's ability to sign with another team when free agency starts March 3. Under terms of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement, another team can offer Howard a contract but the Saints have the right to match the offer. If the Saints decline to match, the new team would have to give them two first-round draft picks as compensation.
Can they pull this off. I am not trusting Loomis on this. Any thoughts? |

I just think the front office is thinking along the lines of compensation
rather than keeping this young defensive line together. This line has the making to be one of the best. |

Until they fill the huge void at DT, this line will need work. We may have two of the best young bookends in the league, though. If you\'re afraid that someone will match the Saints offer and the Saints will opt for two 1st round picks, don\'t be, cause it\'s not going to happen. Howard is very good, but I don\'t see someone giving up that much for him. That usually only happens to skill players (Galloway and Coles are the last two I remember), and I could only see this happening to the very elite players at the other positions (Ray Lewis, Bailey, Ogden, you get the picture).
