Offensive Lines: Mid-Season Report
2. New Orleans Saints
Rank: Pass Blocking = 5th, Run Blocking = 5th, Penalties = 3rd The Saints’ line has been extremely consistent, and worryingly for opponents, is really hitting its stride. Replacing Jon Stinchcomb with Zach Strief has helped, as has the emergence of Brian De La Puente. They may have lucked into it with Olin Kreutz walking away, but it led to them being able to match ‘DLP’ (let’s see if that will catch on) up with the ever excellent Carl Nicks and Jahri Evans to form the best interior in the league. Props as well to Jermon Bushrod for his improved play. Offensive Lines: Mid-Season Report | ProFootballFocus.com |
where are all the haters now?

In 2011, the Saints have suffered the most of ANY team in the NFL at offensive line.
In 2011, the Saints made the BIGGEST turnaround at the offensive line position that I've ever seen mid-season. Everything has been different since the Rams game.
Somehow the line has re-gelled, especially with the return of Strief. What a great story, coaching job, and stand up job by the players to pull it together. :bng: |
Depth is still a serious issue and I hold my breath every snap that a spin moving DE doesn't decapitate Brees. I'd like to see better run blocking at the point of attack.
|
the recent running game success shows the development of this line
in past years the o-line would be ranked near the top in fewest sacks allowed, but we did not have the balance we do now. ...and is Dec 8 mid season now? |

what it seems like to me is that a bunch of whiney impatient fans couldnt give a unit time to work together and figure each other out no there was nothing to complain about early on just like there's nothing to complain about now eat your crow and be done with it |

Canton, I'd like you to meet my friend here, the wall. The wall likes a good argument, as does his friend, Mr Stop Sign, who will be along shortly.
I'm going to leave you three here to discuss things. I'm sure you will enjoy each other's company... |
It took a little time to develop but it's coming together. So, I guess Tennant and Brown just aren't good enough yet but we take in a drifter who starts at center now? I just hope no one goes down on the Oline.
DLP may be the player that rises out of nowhere to really help solidify this group. |
