New Orleans Saints free safety Malcolm Jenkins said he doesn't have much of a problem with Tennessee Titans receiver Nate Washington accusing Saints strong safety Roman Harper of being a "dirty player" after Sunday's 22-17 Saints win over the Titans.
In fact, Jenkins said he wishes -- he too -- one day would be singled out for his aggressive play. "I can't wait to get that crown," Jenkins said. "When somebody says you are a dirty player that means that they respect you in some way. And you are obviously doing something to jump out on film when they feel you are too aggressive. "It's almost like they fear you. When someone calls you dirty that means they always have their eyes on you and they are worried about what you are doing. "I think it is a culture that we breed. I wouldn't say that we are a dirty team, but we are a tough team and we play to the whistle. And I think people notice it." Harper was flagged for two personal foul penalties against the Titans -- a helmet-to-helmet hit against quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and a full-speed facemask tackle against receiver Damian Williams. Harper wasn't available to comment on the accusations on Monday. But Harper has five personal foul penalties this year, though the NFL admitted one was an incorrect call against the Bears in Week 2. His most blatant penalty came earlier this year when he chased down Carolina receiver Steve Smith in the end zone and knocked him down to make a statement. Harper also regularly pushes the envelope with some extra shoves or push-offs after plays -- which was the case last week when he helped incite Detroit tight end Brandon Pettigrew into a personal foul penalty in response. I think Jenkins is exactly right when you have that title of dirty player other players are looking for you but on the other hand when you have that label the refs and the league is watching you to.

The referees won't tolerate that in the playoffs. In fact if the referees don't start penalizing on some of these soon I'll be surprised. |

MAN, Yall took the words right out of my mouth!! I love the aggressive play but i'd hate for it to haunt us and cost us a game and even keep our defense on the field like it has in the past. Overall, keep KILLING these soft receivers and POUNDING all opponents!!!

Harper is doing every thing he can do for us to win, if he had some damn help especially in the secondary he would not have to play so wrecklessly. I don't care about the trash talk they all do that. Jenkins played o.k. last week for the first time in a while but Robinson is simply playing horrible, Porter has not been playing to his hype, Greer has been o.k., but the deep ball has made all of them look like they are playing in a sandlot game, lost plain and simple.

Well apparently Roman's Dad (HS Football Coach) has some problems with it.
Bonckers @ WDZ stated (from Roman's brother Bryan) that his dad had a little "chat" with Roman about his little nudges and late hits and extracurricular ticky tack crap after the play and was not pleased at all. Paraphrasing... I brought you into this world, I can take you out, now stop that crap now. |
