this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'd take height. I think that would make him even more effective in the pocket....

I prefer him just the way he is. Being only 6' and not being recruited in his home state of Texas has built a huge fire inside of Brees to prove everyone wrong. If he was 6'5" maybe he doesn't prepare and strive for the perfection that he has right now. Brees is perfect the way he is.

If I could change anything about Brees I would change the fact that he went to Purdue and have him be a former SEC/BCS champion and Heisman winner who graduated from Ole Miss...

Coach Payton was on last night, and basically said people are fooled if they think Drew Brees isnt athletic. If you think about it, he does run occasionally for a first down, and its not like the
middle linebacker catches him. He occasionally does get hit, and just bounces right back up. I agree with Budsdrinker. His lack of height was probably a factor in being bypassed by schools like UT, which likely lit a fire in his heart. The last thing I want is a Michael Vick. How many injuries has he had this year? Running: Live by it/ Die by it. How did Steve Young's career end up? He ran around too much, and still has headaches from guys like Frank Warren, Jumpy Geathers, and Vaughn Johnson. Young probably would have played 10 more years, if he'd stayed in the pocket. The #1 thing a QB needs, next to his arm, is his BRAIN. And we have the best. |

Again, we are not taking away any of his current abilities, work ethics, game knowledge, passed/current accomplishments, etc. from him, just adding one extra treat...BEST QB IN HISTORY!!! |
