this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I wonder if the Saints realize free-agency started today? First day and already names have been grabbed that could have jump started our D. I think Springs would have been a perfect addition in our failing secondary, despite his injury ...

I wonder if the Saints realize free-agency started today? First day and already names have been grabbed that could have jump started our D. I think Springs would have been a perfect addition in our failing secondary, despite his injury problems come recently. Hopefully they'll make a move and not let anymore needs slip by.

Who exactly was nabbed today that would have been a good fit in our defense? Your post makes it sound like Springs was signed- by who?

I read on the NFL-Fans board that the Redskins have signed Springs, but I haven\'t seen it as being official anywhere.

UPDATE:
The Washington Redskins reached a contract agreement with free agent cornerback Shawn Springs on Wednesday, The Associated Press has learned. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7139332 Also, the article states that TE Rasby visited Washington today and might sign before the end of the day. hello Saints orginization free-agency has started. Why is it that we always sit and wait while the big names are moving on to bolster other teams when we seem to have the approach\"I think we will keep our heads up our ass until the dust settles \" pardon my language, but as a saint fan since day one we need to wake up and smeel the toast burning. As long as we sit back idle \" WE WILL NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP\" with this approach. Sorry but I need to vent and by all means I did not want to offend anyone in this group.

I\'m sure Loomis will find some practice squad track star in Arizona that we can spend big $$$ on in the next few weeks. :casstet:

Heard it on the radio on my way home from work. Not only that, but they also said that the Skins signed Griffin as well. Springs didn\'t bother me, but not having a chance to sign Griffin really bums me. Hopefully we will make a play for Robaire Smith, Plummer, and/or Winfield.

So far today, the big names being signed are as follows:
Shaun Springs and Cornelius Griffin: Redskins (plust they\'d already snagged up Phillip Daniels, Mark Brunell, and Clinton Portis...watch out for the Skins this year) Jevon Kearse: Eagles Ted Washington: Raiders Thomas Jones (semi-big): Bears OT Todd Wade: Texans (HUGE pick-up for that anemic offensive line they have) What did the Saints do? They re-signed Fahkir Brown and Derrick Rodgers...If they\'re wanting continuity, then they\'re getting it...I\'m glad to see these guys re-signed, though....Rodgers isn\'t too bad of a linebacker, and I think Fahkir Brown could bust out this year if given proper playing time. Interesting players released in the last few days: Linebackers: Jessie Armstead, Mo Lewis, Marvin Jones (older linebackers who may have lost a step, but couldn\'t hurt our hideous linebacking corps more than it already is hurting.....btw, Warrick Holdman was relased by the Bears as well) Defensive Tackles: Gilbert Brown (could be the nose man the Saints have needed for a long time, if only for a season or two), Luther Ellis, Chad Eaton Defensive End (If Howard can\'t be signed) Marcellus Wiley, Chad Bratzke Carlos Emmons name popped up from Len Pasquerelli that he may sign with the Saints...only his opinion, but if recovered from injury, could be a nice pick-up |
People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.
