Brees for MVP
Watching the NFL network and both Deion Sanders and Jamie Dukes still say that Rodgers is the unquestioned MVP this season.
Brees' numbers are: G GS Att Comp Pct Yds YPG Lg TD Int Tkld 20+40+ Rate 13 13 543 385 70.9 4368 8.04 79 32 11 23/150 55 8 105.9 Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints, NFL Football - CBSSports.com News, Rumors, Scores, Stats, Fantasy Advice Rodger's numbers are: G GS Att Comp Pct Yds YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate 13 13 438 305 69.6 4125 9.42 93 39 6 32/197 56 11 123.3 Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, NFL Football - CBSSports.com News, Rumors, Scores, Stats, Fantasy Advice Both stats numbers are prior to today's superior performance by Drew. It's 2009 all over again. Brees has better numbers than any other QB but he's probably going to come in second again. Does the MVP status mean anything? Not as much as a Superbowl win but it still is a great accomplishment. Brees deserves it. I hope that he gets it. Edit: nfl.com has current stats: Brees-TDS:37 INT:11 YDS:4,780 RTG:109.1 Percent:71.5 http://www.nfl.com/players/drewbrees...e?id=BRE229498 TDS:40 INT:6 YDS:4,360 RTG:120.1 Percent:68.1 http://www.nfl.com/players/aaronrodg...e?id=ROD339293 Upon further review, I am a big homer but I don't consider Rodgers the unquestioned MVP for the 2011 season. |

It's over 4700 yards and 37 TDs now. He's already had his best season if he doesn't play another game.

Brees set the NFL record for completion percentage in 2009 with 70.6, he's going to break his own record aswell as dan marino's |

In my uneducated opinion, and maybe it's just a grasp, but; I think Rodgers has turned a corner and will spiral downward after today's humiliating defeat by the Chiefs. That game WAS A STUNNER for the Packer organization.
Drew will out pass him by a full game worth of yards (350-400) if not more, because to beat Atlanta we will need an airshow. I'd love to hear Drew is the League MVP, but Superbowl MVP with a performance similar to today would be much more memorable! Alaska |

I think some of the difference is not statistical but is that Green Bay has this uncanny knack for turning opportunity into TD's, whether it's defensive turnovers (which we excelled in in 2009) or just a red zone hunger or, they get in field position and Rodgers scores the TD and they just look really scary good while doing it, or like it's inevitable. We have a lot of work to do on our red zone offense. The Packers have this hunger or drive for the end zone, that is hard to quantify in terms of stats, it just unfolds or happens, big plays or small plays, but right now it's definitely a hair better than the Saints. This is not stats, it's just based on watching the mayhem they cause in defenses when they are going for the end zone and nobody can stop them. The Saints are great, no question about that -- but that non-statistical vibe of going for the end zone, or success, attacking on every play, the vibe that a touchdown is inevitable, I think the Packers are actually a little bit better at that right now.

Man, Drew, 4700 yards and 37 TDs now. This just might be your best season.

Agree with FF, if he was in a larger market, he would be a unanimous decision!

2011 NFL MVP
2011 Superbowl MVP 2012 contract $120,000,000 plus Mickey will have to sharpen quite a few pencils trying to put some more talent on on our defense. Nicks will be tough to resign. We'd better get used to journeymen free-agents on defense for the next 4 or 5 years. |
