Playoffs... How Saints Get Out of Playing in Green Bay.

Nobody wants to go to Green Bay in January.

If the Saints get the #3 or #2 seed, looks like the Packers will play either Atlanta or Dallas.

Question...
Who and why do you think has the best chance of beating the Packers in Green Bay to force the NFC Championship here?

BOTH OF THESE TEAMS HAVE A CHANCE!

Who else would you rather play in the NFC Championship Game?

I had to vote other; I don't see anyone beating the Packers except us in Green Bay

Are you kidding? This is the NFL and either Dallas or the Falcons could beat the Packers in Lambeau. ;)

|Mitch| 12-18-2011 10:52 PM

The Falcons had two chances in Atlanta and the Packers spanked them not once, but twice...

breesfan27 12-18-2011 10:52 PM

I don't see the Crygirls or the Falclowns beating Green Bay, but stranger things have happened. Hell, the Pack lost today, to the Chiefs of all teams. #AnyGivenSunday

That's a wroong answer.

The question reads "Chance". Certainly they have a chance. You blew the test. Thank for playing the game. ;)

I could see Dallas beating them and then the Cowboys coming here and Payton sucking the life out of Jerry Jones, it would be classic, but if not I would love another crack at Pretty Boy Rodgers.

Yea... playing Dallas here would be great since I don't want to have to beat Atlanta 3 times. That would prove to be much harder. If Payton beat Jones, Jones may hate him too much to make him an offer to coach Dallas. Either that or make him one hell of an offer.

I accually disagree. We have never been a fan base to run from a fight.

I want the Packers and the Great Aron Rodgers.

I am more interested in fighting GB at home but , in a blizzard, yes a blizzard, because our OL and RB's #8 are better than them . GB has no run game to speak of . And Brees is a better short passer than Rogers. and better under pressure. Brees is 67.9% completions with 127 pressures, Rogers is 65% completions with 89 pressures. So we could limit the long ball, and run the rock and short game.
Their OL is horrible , and a victory at their home, would demoralize anyone we face. Look at what happens if GB loses the long ball or just Jenkins.

Nah, we go there we beat them and take the trophy from the pack, and put it back in New Orleans. Then if lucky we face New England and beat them in a super bowl. Then Brees would have Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Farve, and Wanner on his mantle .
At that point the media will have to take him seriously.

Usually agree with your opinion but you're way off on this.... I agree that I think we can beat them in Green Bay but...

See I don't give a crap about playing the Packers. I would rather another home game in the Dome for our fans. Plus this is a better road to the Superbowl. Come to our house and our fan base.

But we beat them in GB there will never be a question years from now, if we earned it. Shooting for the easy opponent means you probably didn't, like the pack last SB.
Bears and Pitt? please

We kill the pack then NE and no one can say a thing

Nobody would question it. You lose... you lose. Nobody questions the Superbowl winner. This ain't college. ;)

I have to say this is going to most likely be what would have to happen.
If that's the case, I think Brees may go down as the greatest ever.

lol, I know but we as fans fight all the time about strength of opponent .

I know:) and thats what I want. Brees to be seen as the best QB ever, it would rock. If Brees got another SB later and they looked at Brady vs Brees , he would win :)

Brady beat raiders ,Rams ( good team), and panthers

Brees would beat Colts, NE, and maybe Rivers, but taking out the great GB would add to his legend. I really think forget going for the weaker team, lets go and beat the best create a legend of our own in New Orleans, if we lose we didn't deserve it anyway, and I completely think this team can do it.

95shakinpf 12-19-2011 05:26 AM

I believe the Packers end the season at 15-1 and are 1-n-done in the playoffs. Although I would love for Brees n the guys to smash GBs dble Superbowl run, I dont think we get the chance to play em again.

GB=1-n-done!

Garry42 12-19-2011 05:37 AM

I too would like to see the Saints take on Green Bay. To be the best, you have to beat the best!

homerj07 12-19-2011 07:27 AM

PLAY IT IN THE HOUSE!!!

TheOak 12-19-2011 08:06 AM

1. To those who do not see Atlanta or Dallas beating the Packers..... er... did you see Kansas City beating them?

2. Bring on the Packers.... Bring them on in Lambeau... on ice... and snow.

We have a running game, Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham.

I am not worried any more! Its nice to peak at the end of the season.:bng:

Danno 12-19-2011 08:22 AM

Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, NY and possibly Philly would all have a shot.

Atlanta would get smoked.

chicago would get smoked also I think , they have no QB, OL sucks, and no Forte

Probably, but they have a ferocious defense that knows Green Bay from top to bottom. They'd have a punchers chance.

ScottF 12-19-2011 09:11 AM

Detroit.
they actually matchup well.

Euphoria 12-19-2011 09:31 AM

You know... I love the fact people want to avoid playing the Packers...

Its like giving up already. If we can avoid them we either we can go further in the playoffs or better chance for the SB? I don't get it.

I don't think it matters. I mean lets face it we want to play at home. We go on the road in the playoffs we will lose.

Also... I don't think it matters if we lose round one or the NFC championship game we will still be out of the playoffs and out of the SB.

Srgt. Hulka 12-19-2011 09:34 AM

I want us to get the #2 seed.
I want Detroit to beat the snot out of Sanfrancisco on Wildcard Weekend.
I want Dallas to beat the snot out of Atlanta on Wildcard Weekend, because I don't want to play Atlanta a third time in one year. Thats pushing our luck.
I want the Saints to beat the snot out of Dallas in the NFC Divisional game in New Orleans. Just because I would just LOVE to see that!
I want Detroit to beat the snot out of Green Bay in the NFC Divisional Game. Just because I would love to see that too.
I want us to beat the snot out of Detroit in the NFCCG in New Orleans.

But people in Hell want ice water too!

pherein 12-19-2011 09:42 AM

I would love to obliterate Dallas in the Dome :)

Avoiding the Packers means the NFCCG is at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome.

Who woudn't want that?

Halo 12-19-2011 10:47 AM

At this point in the season I'll put the Saints against any team in the NFL in any venue and take my chances. We're playing the best football heading into the playoff barring a meltdown.

I voted Cowgirls because I don't think that Snot-lanta matches up well with GB.

I also think "Other" on the poll makes it weird - one of those questions thrown out by the professor, but it makes for great conversation.

Euphoria 12-19-2011 11:26 AM

Look,

You want to be the best... then beat the best!

Avoiding the Packers is gay.

Well if they got knocked off they wouldn't be the best would they?

Not wanting the NFCCG in New Orleans is waygay.

I never said I was "scared" or wanted to "avoid the Packers" I said I don't think Atlanta or Dallas has the caliber to beat Green Bay. I think we are the only team capable of that. I also said, and I quote, "stranger things have happened." I don't give a flying **** who we beat to get to the Super Bowl, as long as we get there.

The NFC in the Dome would be huge, unlikely though. We will play Green Bay in January, they are just like us in so many ways. They laid their egg against the Chiefs like we did against the Rams. They became more dangerous with the loss because it took that unbeaten pressure off and it will be their wake-up call, like the Rams for us. We are the only team in the league that can beat them at their own game, it will just have to be on their own field.

AlaskaSaints 12-20-2011 07:43 PM

The Packers are looking more and more like the 2010 Saints -->

INJURED

They can try to deny it, but once the playoffs start, the attrition will bring them to their knees; with ANY playoff-caliber team.

We, on the other hand -->

H**L**Y Well, I'm not gonna just come out and SAY it yet!! LOL

That would be BAD JU JU

Saintswrath 12-21-2011 05:59 AM

Not sure i would want to play Atlanta 3 times so im going to say Dallas.

I think it actually made them a little LESS dangerous, because now they are not chasing the perfect record anymore, and they don't really need to do much of anything except make sure they end up winning one more game than everybody else... I didn't look it up but I'm guessing with the tiebreakers they pretty much have home field locked up. So rather than being a wake-up call, the loss could actually kinda backfire, and make the Packers get a little soft, coast a little bit, take their foot off the gas, knowing they'll only have to turn it back "on" for the playoffs.

Kinda like when the Saints looked flat and boring and DULL against Tampa Bay in December '09; the winning streak was over, we would have liked to have won that day, but Payton clearly knew that we didn't NEED that game, it wasn't do-or-die. So I felt like they closed the playbook and kinda coasted through the second half that day. Why show more stuff to opponents on film, let's just hand off to Lynell Hamilton a bunch of times. I think you might see the Packers doing a bit of that, late in the season, now that the streak is done.

I agree. Packers have been a little stumble-y of late, and I think the Saints are playing at a very high level. Drew had 412 yards last week against a terrible Vikings team. He had 419 against the defending champs week 1.

I have a feeling that Monday night the Saints are going to dismantle the Falcons. For some reason I'm feeling uneasy about the Carolina game, but I really don't fear any team out there. But it's true, on any given Sunday (or Saturday, or Monday)....

I just want to see San Fran, Cowboys, and Falcons lose, lose, lose.

I may be in the minority here, but I have had the feeling all year that the Packers go down in round 1.
