Packers plans will probably determine our opponent
Still a slim chance at the #2, but assuming that the 49ers don't choke against the Lambs, I think the Pack will determine what team comes to the Superdome for a drubbing.
Falcons will win against Tampa. So if the Pack win, we get the Lions. If the Lions win, we will get the Falcons. Question is - how much will the Packers starters play with nothing to gain?
Based on this, you know...
1) The Packers want to win so that the Lions would be the #6 and have to play the Saints. If the Lions were to win and stay the #5 seed, they would play the NFC East champ and more than likely win. That would mean a return trip to Lambeau for the Lions, fresh off a Week 17 win...
2) The Lions want to win so they do NOT have to show up at the Superdome for another drubbing and can instead play the NFC (L)East champ/chump.
3) The Falcons want to win and hope the Lions lose so they can play against the #4 seed. That keeps them out of the Superdome until the NFCCG.
4) The 49ers want to win in Week 17 because they know it will probably be the last of their season. If they are the #3, they might could take Atlanta, but would lose to Detroit in a rematch. If they are the #2, they're toast when we come to town...
