Best Stat of the week...
Don't know if ya'll caught it, but with all the pundits pointing out that Brees got the record "with an asterisk" because the rules are different now for defenses against the quarterback and the wide receivers...MNF had a great stat that even made ME feel better.
I was actually wrapped up in the story of how Brees has had a lot easier time making his yardage, due to the stricter rules on defenses, protecting the quarterback, and wide receivers. Then they showed a stat about the averages for passing yardage for QB's in 1984. Marino was 80% more than the average passing yards for QB's in 1984. Brees is 95% ahead of the average passing yards for BB's in 2011. This puts the records on equal footing!! And Brees has done it in 15 games. I really wish THIS stat accompanied all the other asterix comments. |

Basically Brees is exceeding the current NFL average more than Marino exceeded the 1984 average? Interesting stat. |

Interesting stat. <i> Exactly. |

Exactly. Even though the rules were different, the stat takes the rules out of the accomplishment. |
Trying to belittle what Drew has done - F--K them up thier silly asses!!
|
One other stat they are forgetting about is our 3rd conversion percentage. We went 8 for 8 out the gate and finished with 10 of 13. Our Offense is off the charts scary good right now.

We need a new symbol called a Breesterick. It would be used when rule changes have no bearing on a feat.

Sorry guys, I just dont buy into this "yes he broke the record BUT". The guy throws for well over 5000 yds in 15 games...Thats incredible no matter what the rules are now!
Too many haters...We wouldnt hear any of this crap if it had been Aaron R. or Tom B. and thats a fact!! |
