I thought for certain that the Seahawks were going to beat the 49ers by a field goal on that last drive. Yes the 49ers do not score a lot of points but I'm struggling to think they could loose to the Rams. Perhaps we will be surprised at the end of the day.

The Rams beat us. KC beat the packers.
Strange things happen in this league sometimes. The Rams could beat SF. It's possible. Hopefully, they'll start Brees this week against the Panthers, but keep an eye on the scoreboard. If SF is kicking the snot out of StL, pull the starters off the field to keep them healthy. As long as there's a shot at it, playing for the #2 seed is worth it. If it's no longer attainable, sit Brees and as many others as possible. |

I think you are right. Rams get 10 to 13 points and the 49ers get 20 to 27 points. Which all means the Saints will keep on hoping.

Are we getting out of hand with this record stuff?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brees broke Marinos record and will go down as the only one to do so in 20 years and I couldn't be happier for him. Does anybody else here think its a bit dangerous to keep any player in the game strictly to break a record this close to the playoffs? Im not talking about the Atlanta game, thats been accomplished, I am talking about the Carolina game. Am I the only one who thinks it would be stupid to keep Brees and the starters in for the sheer point of ensuring Brees keeps the record if the Rams game gets way out of hand? The only record I want is a Super Bowl. I don't want to risk losing a key player for the sake of some record. Are our coaches and us fans putting too much into this record stuff for our own good? Share Share this post on Digg Reddit! Twitter! Facebook! | Like -------------- I did not read others' posts first. I had to repost yours for me to answer your question. No, this record thing is not getting out of hand. In the national media, like on the NFL Network, it was reported as a story Monday night and some on Tuesday. Nothing since. The NFL Network rebroadcasts some games during the week. The Saints-Falcons Monday night game has not been rebroadcasted. I do not think it will and I checked the schedule. Saints are not in that big media market or even still, big NFL fan league known. Ex. Dallas Cowboys- America's Team. NY Giants, NY Jets-New York. This record thing is big news in N.O. sports pages still and that is ok. No, I do not think this record thing is getting out of hand with the Saints organization by having Brees in for the last few minutes in the Falcons game after he broke Marino's record. The game was not over. Yes, there was a big point spread at that time. No, even taking taking Brees out when there was a big point spread in the 4th before he broke Marino's record would have been wrong. He is paid and works all 16 games and for all 4 quarters. The record was nice, but the Brees-Coach SP-Saints thing is always game first. The Saints were not just making idle , nonsense plays, passing in order for Brees to get yards. I like how the record was important and was going to happen, but also the Saints wanted to win that game. It is not stupid to keep Brees and starters in the last game of the season. . This last game of the season, really, like all 16 , LOL, is important. 12-3 Saints now is good. 13-3 Saints would be better. Let San Fran have the posilbility of being 13-3, and Saints settle for `12-3? I know the Saints at this point have won a lot, Div. Cham, etc., but there is still 13-3 esp. if SanFran loses. Saints 2011 is not over. I understand what you mean about risking key players to injury at this point. I do not even like saying the word, "injury." This can happen first game., Last game. It is a risk. It is football. |

I think I read somewhere that Brady is only about 190 yards behind Brees right now.
If that's the case, two QB's might break Marino's record this year. The question is, then, which one will hold the new record? I'm not at all in favor of chasing the record if that's the only goal. But, if more yards are racked up while chasing the #2 seed, then GO for it! |

In all fairness Marino doesn't have a record anymore. Brees can break Brees record and Brady can try.

If they put Brees in they need to leave him in long enough to keep his TD pass streak going. That record is one for the ages.
