this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I've said all along that the Lions pass defense wasn't good enough, that the corners and secondary would be their undoing. In the second half of the season, that defense has been horrible. Can you imagine how excited Drew Brees ...

I think Pete caught hell after his Brees-asterisk column and is trying to make up

The more I watch the Saints offense, the more I am convinced they made a bad move to trade into the first round to draft running back Mark Ingram last year. He's out with a toe injury, and they don't miss him at all. A grinder back isn't nearly as valuable in the Saints offense as he is in other offenses. Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles are perfect for what the Saints do. They should have used that pick on a defensive player if they were going to make the move. I like Ingram he is young and strong and he will heal until he is well and Payton will find ways to use him like he does for all of them. I was hoping he was ready to go for the playoffs and take 4 healthy backs into them but we will be fine. Ivory, PT, and Sproles will get us there.

Prisco is such a tool. No one knew how successful the surgery to Pierre and Ivory was at the time of the draft. No one knew we would land Sproles in free agency, all we knew is that we were not going to pay Reggie the remainder of his contract. Therfore Ingram was a good pick. He allowed Ivory to get healthy and now Ivory is allowing Ingram to get healthy. Sure does beat last year at this time.

At least now Payton doesn't have to juggle which RB is going to sit.
I wish the Saints had beaten the Packers instead of the Rams, just to shut up people hanging like dingleberries from the Roadgers/Packers nut hairs!! |

Prisco is an idiot. But then again, what do you expect from someone from Atlanta

U really should quote Prisco's words because I was thinking you said all that dribble... Pete Prisco is the worst sports writer there has ever been or will ever be. Period.

I can agree trading up for Ingram may not seem like a good idea... but its his first year you need to give a draft pic 3-4 years to develop. So verdict is still out on that...
But you have to keep in mind we needed a power back while Ivory was hurt to start the year. So there is some positive we got from the pick this year... |
