Second Round
18(18). New Orleans Saints
DJ Williams Linebacker Miami (Fla.) The Saints have glaring needs at linebacker and at cornerback. With three picks in the first two rounds expect the Saints to target those positions and not stray away and look anywhere else on the football field. In this scenario with no linebackers taken yet this was an easy choice. Other possibilities: *DeAngelo Hall CB Virginia Tech, Derrick Strait CB Oklahoma. Nevermind we do i found it. |

what are you crazy? First LB to be taken. I like the choice but keep in mind he is an OLB... our glaring need is MLB and CB. First LB to be taken will be Vilma.
other scenerios\" 1. Saints trading up to get Vilma. 2. Saints trading down picking up CB and more picks. 3. Saints taking DJ WIlliams. [Edited on 15/3/2004 by deadflatbird] |

I bet you said that when they picked Sully last season. Saints have stated they will come out with another shocker in first round. That came from Loomis himself. I would have to find were it was stated but i read it. And posted in Saints forum in Neworleanssaints.com. Thats just how Loomis and Haslett work. Crazy yep you can say that again.

What I am saying is Vilma is the best LB in the draft hands down. DJ WIlliams ok... best OLB in the draft. In the long run we will be in great shape with DJ WIlliams. In order to get Vilma we will have to move up.

And \'deadflatbird\', for the last time, we do not need to trade up for Vilma. People on this forum seem to know how good the guy is, but scouts are still worried about his size and there is very little chance that anyone trades up to get him...and picks 10-17 don\'t need a MLB. So he is ours. |

I find it funny when some are so adamant about a certain player being there or not being there when we pick. Nobody knows for sure, so why even throw that out there. There were several players that we all talked about wouldn\'t be there for our two first rounders last year, only to fall out of the 1st completely (Bailey and that kid from Maryland that played MLB, who\'s name escapes me). The only one that I argued and was for sure about last year was Trufant, and all I said was that he wouldn\'t fall out of the top 10 of the 1st round, I even argued it with ScottyRo. Was I 100% certain? No. But I dervied that info based on team needs, and I honestly didn\'t think he would make it until Seattle, but he did. I haven\'t looked this year, but what other teams that are choosing before us have LB and CB at the top of their need list?

because this is fun... geting involve takes up time while we wait for the season to start already.
Hey Rage post your mocks here so we can see what you are looking at... I seen zero showing Vilma at 18 or later. They are have him 12 or higher. |

Every page I go to has him going either to the Saints at 18, or later...and I go to the highly regarded draft sites.
http://www.football.com/draft/2004/04mockdraft.shtml He has Vilma going 21 to the Patriots. http://www.football.com/draft/2004/mccollom_mock.shtml 30 to the Colts http://www.football.com/draft/2004/lassan_mock.shtml 28 to the Eagles http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/mock_draft.htm 43 to the Jets (he aint falling that far, but...) http://www.otcdraft.com/mocks/ 18 to the Saints http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/ again to the Colts I have yet to see anyone have him go higher than 18. |

Hate to agree, but I\'m with Rage, I\'ve never seen a single mock that has Vilma breaking the top 12, much less the top 15.
