The only thing that would have made the night better is if the LSU band would have started playing ‘Hey Fightin Tiger’ when the clock hit zero to get everyone ready for Monday. In an NFL where the rules make everything about offense the Saints have managed to take theirs to another level. Normal football strategy doesn’t apply to them. They’d never say it out loud because that’d be un-cool but when you go for it on fourth down from your own 38-yard-line in a playoff game leading 17-14 you definitely think it. Sean Payton didn’t even hesitate and Drew Brees executed an over the top quarterback sneak. He might as well have held up a giant sign that said: “THE 2011 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS WORLD TOUR: ROLLING YOU” Full article. http://www.wwltv.com/sports/black-an...136922408.html |

I think I posted somewhere on here just that...
Look, you have the highest 3rd down conversion in the NFL ever! If you are 4th and 5 or less even 4th and 8. You know you're in a shoot out and must move the ball and score why not go for it. It is for the most part equal to a turnover. You keep the ball out of their hands. I wasn't surprised at all that we went for it on 4th down. You have reached a point in the season where there is finality involved in each game. Lose you are done for the season... so with everything on the line you need to GO FOR IT. The odds are in our favor. With that high of a conversion on 3rd down imagine the possibilities when we use the extra down to convert!?!?!?! |
