Saints & 49ers will be making history Saturday
Saturday’s playoff game between the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers has some historical significance.
It will mark the first time an offense that averaged at least 34 points per game in the regular season will play a postseason game against a defense that allowed fewer than 15 points per game since the 1950 NFL Championship Game. That’s when the Rams came in averaging 38.8 points per game and the Browns had allowed 12 points per game. For the record, the Browns won that game, 30-28. Thanks to ESPN Stats & Information for the above notes. You can check out some other interesting numbers on the matchup between the Saints and 49ers on the Stats & Info blog.
