I think the talk of a DE should be put on hold. The steal of last years draft will be ready to go after coming off of IR. Greg Romeus from Pitt should have been a first rounder, but his injury was just too much to give a high pick for. He is going to be healthy and hungry in 2012. Also, Martez Wilson showed improvement on the outside. I am leaning more towards an actual cover corner and a big DT so that we don't have to pay both Rogers and Franklin.

Kellen Moore? Yes, please, especially after he gets to sit behind Drew for 3-4 years, learning how to 1) Play the position at a pro-level and, maybe more importantly, 2) be a leader both on and off the field. I know our biggest needs are on defense but Moore seems like a guy that would fit SO well into our system whenever Drew is ready to ride off into the sunset (hopefully not for a few years, at least). It seems like an opportunity too good to pass up. |

This is the LAST thing we need to worry about now. It shouldn't even be a thought. Chase has been here how long? Every time we see him (granted it's preseason) he looks decent. he is no Drew but who is. If we did what is suggested, the unlikely soul will just take over yo-yo duties on the practice squad. |

I still think the guy has a point, though. I honestly don't know much about Daniels. He seems like a very good backup for us right now; but is the team really going to expect Daniels to just sit for, what, 7 - 8 years (by the time Drew Retires) and then become our starter? For how many years? 3? 4? Why? Because he knows the system and looks good in pre-season? You know who else knew his team's system and looked decent in preseason? Curtis Painter. I'm not saying Moore is a lock to be our future QB even if he's our pick, I'm just saying it's worth thinking about if he's still around when we have our pick; getting a guy as talented as he is, that seems like he would fit our system so well, so low in the draft might not be an opportunity that presents itself again. He could sit for 3-4 years, benefit from having Drew as a mentor and give us 8 years or more as starting QB when his time comes. |

All i know is that we need to upgrade our linebackers and maybe our new defensive coordinator can put something together

Exactly! Last year was different because of the work stoppage, but this year teams are going into the draft knowing exactly what holes need to be filled with rookie talent. BTW, if the Ravens won't pick up Haloti Ngata's 10M option he'll be a UFA and another good reason to get rid of Smith's and Ellis' big salaries. Probably the best DT in NFL and would do wonders for the Saints' pass rush and run defense. |
