Cap Situation Not That Dire
1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans’ salary-cap situation for 2012 isn’t quite as bad as early reports made it sound. League-wide cap figures had the Saints listed with about $106 million already committed toward the 2012 salary cap.

Ok..what's the salary cap? How much space?
|
Ha! But that was before we tried to pay Brees / Nicks / Colston / and all.
|
If we don't keep Colston I will cry.
|
Loomis is a cap genius, somehow I see him keeping all three
|
As much as I love Colston, if it comes down to only keeping him or Nicks......I'm going with Nicks. There are good receivers with size & hands to be had in the 2nd through 5th rounds this year.
|
The article said we should be able to afford resigning Brees, Nicks and Colston. I'd like to believe that.

I wonder if it would make signing Graham and Greer next year impossible? I love Colston, but I've seen the future, and his name is Jimmy Graham. |
Jimmy Graham MUST be re-signed.
Does anyone know what the 2012 cap will be? I found that it was $120mm for 2011, and I found the formula to calculate it for years going forward but I don't have the income numbers to plug in to the formula to actually get the final figure... |
wait for the numbers.
But 2012 was voided out of Brees’ contract, so the Saints are, for the moment, sitting at about $94 million. now we have to wait for the nfl soft cap numbers to be released also In 2012, teams will have three exemptions worth $1.5 million on three players. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/67...le-interesting |
