Hopefully the new DC will convince SP to focus more on improving the defense. I'm also looking forward to see who we can pick up in free agency.

IMO, the issues with the Saints defense is more technique and scheme than personel.
I'm not saying that changes are needed, but wholesale housecleaning is not needed. Plus with the offense the Saints have, coming here has got to be appealing. |

If we had to look past the obvious guy's, what about looking at some of the top defense's. What's the constants on those teams besides the DC. Like a LB coach or a DL coach. Somebody who has learned under obviously good DC and could maybe bring something learned from them. Kind of like how Sean got here. Just a thought.
EDIT: I just read some of Sean's press and saw this: On what he’ll look for in a new defensive coordinator: “The real, real talented coaches come in all age groups and they come from all over. They come from college, they come from our league. Some have been head coaches, some haven’t. I just look back at my own experiences and someone gave me an opportunity for the first time. I think that you try to pay attention to all of those things. I think you do as much preparation and homework as you can on the candidates and spend as much time visiting with them, but I don’t think you try to profile.’’ I must be a genius..lol |

And I think there was some other one also, which I can not remember, but thankfully he ended up in NO. |

I think Loomis and Payton already know who they want, just playing the game.
