Love Robert Meachem.

Not injury prone, for instance.

His touchdowns far outnumber his obvious drops.

He's a keeper.

I'm convinced there are a lot of people that don't understand or appreciate MeachEM's role on this team.

He's solid, and if we lost Colston you'd see he and Devery get a lot more catches.

:)I think Joseph Morgan could step right in and be an upgrade.

I agree. He fits into his role nicely. SP knows how and when to use him. Remeber we spread the ball around so much , that no one player is gonna really be a big star in our offense, with the possible exception of Graham.

The Saints offense is so explosive mainly due to Brees and his receivers. He has 4 guys who have been around the organization for a very long time. They are probably going to lose 2 guys. Colston and Meachem are probably good as gone at this point. Free agency is probably going to find these guys some much greener pasture. Can Brees find new weapons, the answer is yes. What concerns me is Arrington played in the 49ers game, and he and Drew basically had no clue on one another. Everything thrown to Arrington looked to be just a bit off. Throw in two new receivers in the mix and it is very easy to see a significant drop off in production.

In a matchup system offense, a player's effectiveness is highly dependent on playcall, defensive scheme, defensive player and situation. One cannot evaluate any receiver as if they were a #1 option out of the slot every play.

For what system that is employed, and Meachem's skills, I think he is a crucial asset. His speed, his ability to catch the ball in traffic, his ability to turn into a defender - he's prevented a number of dead certain interceptions - makes him indispensable. Plus, he's not a prima donna.

He and Devery's deep speed are one of the main reasons the intermediate routes to Colston and Graham are open.

They don't get enough credit for their unselfish roles, which is exactly what Brees has said numerous times about both of them.

Oh, and they're both excellent blockers.

I agree!! If he goes to another team he becomes their #1 deep threat. I don't want to have to face this guy.. He is healthy and dependable not to mention fast!!

Meachem doesn't produce like a number 1 because he's not a number 1. Bringing back Colston should be a high priority. I'd support robbing Henderson to pay Meachem.
