Former St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo has agreed to become defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Spagnuolo will replace Gregg Williams, who left to become defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams.

Spagnuolo and the Saints do not have a contract yet.

I think when Caldwell got fired, it's now a matter of, as soon as Indianapolis tells Spags that he is NOT going to be considered for their head coach, I think once that happens he's pretty much ours

I'm a little bummed we didn't seem to give Jack DelRio a shot, but I think Spags is going to be good for us...
