Which brings up a question.
If we cut him, his cap hit is 2 million. If we keep him, his cap hit is 6 million. So basically keeping him only costs us 4 million for 2012. Thats not a ton of money for a "decent" DT, and the player we sign to replace him will be at least 4 million. IMO its cheaper to keep him, this year. |

I'm hoping that if Spags finds him to be someone he can work with in order to improve his overall game and productivity - they'll work out a restructured deal, which would keep him with the team f.e. for 3-4 years, but with a lower base salary ~ 3M. I mean there are a lot of DTs on the FA market this year, and it is not guaranteed he would land another job with another team if he was to be released, so they might be able to strong-arm him into a favorable contract. |
