Would like to have Williams
Doubt Saints will have the money after re-signing our FAs!!
ProFootballWeekly.com - What will Texans do with Mario Williams? |
I would love to have Mario Williams. We need a big player addition to the defense either on the line or at linebacker.
|
I would be happy to ship someone like Will smith away if we got Mario Williams, make Will smith lower his pay because he isn't performing for how much he's earning.
Mario would be a great addition to the team |
he is better than both will smith and cam jordan combined
|
ABSOLUTELY! We can't afford it, but we haven't had a dominate pass rusher for a while. Smith had a really good season in '09, but we've had a pass rushing drought for several seasons now. Maybe Smith will take a pay cut or just be replaced by Smith. Maybe Ellis gets a pay cut (his production this season doesn't live up to his pay check). Maybe Greer gets a cap friendly extension. A lot of maybes. I don't like our odds.

|
After missing all of last season with an injury, he will be cheaper than alot of people think. Signing him could be very possible if we were to lose, say......Will Smith.
|
If we decide to let Brees walk, we can afford him.

Mario is Reggie Bush on the Defense. Flashy can get six to eight sacks a season but no more. He is a warrior no doubt but more than likely injured and not effective in the long term

It be strange seeing him in Black & Gold. Good, but really strange.

its ok Halo, we have tolerance and diversity and all that crap around here.
we had a dress parade, for pete's sake. I dont know about Mario? Does he still have it? Would he break the bank? sounds risky. |
...and so would other 31 teams around the league, and many with the cap room to spend on such a purchase.

and we can have what we always wanted...a better d. Great point...ill write loomis and inform him. I think Canfield is ready |

Well, Brees himself said in an interview during the pre-season that Daniel is a chubby version of him. So, let Brees walk, get Daniel to shed a couple of pounds, and we're good to go! |
I'm not SERIOUSLY hearing ANYONE ok with letting Drew go, am I? Cuz if that's so, I wanna know what you guys have been smoking??? ;) I think I'm a Drew fan for LIFE.....he better NOT go anywhere.

Williams would be super awesome. Guess it will have to remain an "if only"
|
Williams + Ahmad Brooks = LBs sorted.
I'd love to see Vilma work between those two guys as opposed to Shanle and Herring. I mean, during the past 3 regular seasons ('09/'10/'11) those two guys have a combined sack production of half a sack per each game they played in. That would be 8 sacks per regular season from the OLBs... I'd take that. |

Unfortunately we can't afford him.imho

This guy has never lived up to his #1 overall pick & y'all want him on our team? Not me.

Bush has been a helluva lot more injury prone in his career with the Saints than Williams has with the Texans. If the Saints can get him and keep Brees, Nicks, Colston and a majority of the other FAs, I am all for it. |

That said, BUSH IS NOT/WAS NOT A BUST! Now he's at Miami as their leading rusher...... When are people going to get over that fact. He's a successful starting runningback in the NFL. Nuff Said. |
I would love to have Mario Williams. Mickey do your magic.

Is there some other Mario Williams you may be referring to? |

I was thinking this same exact thing because going over his career stats it is very clear that he has been producing very good numbers starting with his rookie season, and better yet his production curve has been increasing - if it were not for his injuries this season I have no doubts that he would be in Hawaii right now. Maybe because he plays for the Texans people overlook the level at which he plays?! |
Shoulda drafted him in 06
|
Quote:
I think that's a hard one to sell. I still think Bush was the correct pick in that draft - he was drafted for what he was able to do: create overall excitement and pull off circus-like feats on the field. |

A good write up of Reggie by Mel Kiper, on ESPN Insider:

the only other people i would have wanted in that first round really were tamba hali and haloti ngata. other than that id take the bush pick. it set off a string of events that were more long term beneficial. ex: sproles
