Other teams' needs (we should get our CB)

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Reading over team needs (FOX) I notice that outside the top 10 picks there are only four teams that have CB as ONE of their needs.... 10- Houston-DT,S,LB,CB (probably Wilfork) 11- PIttsburgh-CB, OT, QB (Probably Rivers or Rothleisburger) 12- NYJ ...

Reading over team needs (FOX) I notice that outside the top 10 picks there are only four teams that have CB as ONE of their needs....
10- Houston-DT,S,LB,CB (probably Wilfork)
11- PIttsburgh-CB, OT, QB (Probably Rivers or Rothleisburger)
12- NYJ - CB,LB (probably Williams, Vilma, Hall, Robinson)
17-Cincinatti - LB, CB, DT (Wilfork, Williams, Vilma, Hall, Robinson)

I honestly think Hall and Robinson aren't rated high enough to justify a 10,11,or 12 pick so I think we have to worry about Cincinatti. I kinda think Lewis would take a DJ Williams or Vilma before a comparable CB though.

I'm scared someone behind us will trade up for Hall or Robinson.
But even so it should allow us to pick either Hall or Robinson.
The good news, if both are gone, Vilma and DJ Willaims will be the pick.
Win-Win in my book.

That appears to be right. We may even be able to trade down a couple spots, get an extra pick and still get our guy. It\'s going to be a very interesting draft.

What I\'m worried about is that Loomis will trade up and snag somebody that we could have traded down and still picked. Here\'s to hoping they\'re not sold on one player, thus leaving their options open.

Like a Jonathan Sullivan? I say that with tongue in cheek, if memory serves me correctly, New England also had their eye on Sullivan in the 1st round.

So did Minnesota. Remember their surprise, clock ticking down a full two picks?

I remember them getting leap-frogged a couple of times, but I thought their intentions was to draft Kevin Williams and move him to DE. Did not know theywere after Sullivan...

The Vikings draft this year was frighteningly similar to last year. The results were worse because the Vikings didn\'t learn from their mistakes. In 2002 Tice made it clear that he wanted to take Sims and KC jumped in ahead of us to take him. This year Tice made it clear he wanted Robertson (a 2 gap, nosetackle type defensive tackle) and guess what the Jets made a deal with Chicago who didn\'t want Robertson to jump in ahead of the Vikings and take Robertson. If Tice had kept quiet, Robertson would have fallen to to the Vikings. If he would not have fallen to the team; then at least Sullivan (another 2 gap, nose tackle type) would have but once again the Vikes made it clear they would take Sullivan. As Don Banks said in Sports Illustrated the Saints knew that the Vikes would take Sullivan and that Kennedy was a smokescreen. The Saints smokescreen of taking Trufant worked, and they made the deal and moved up and got Sullivan.

The night before the draft several draft sources had the Vikings picks as Sullivan #1 and Williams #2. Tice should have been touting cornerbacks like New Orleans was not 2 gap defensive tackles. Kennedy was obviously not the pick and the Saints knew it. Doesn\'t Tice learn, doesn\'t this organization learn?

can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

Qui a laissez sortir les chiens!

Thanks for the info. That\'s a funny read. I like Tice as a coach, but damn, you\'d think he was smarter than that.
