Plaxico Burress says Saints Drew Brees will be signed by Washington Redskins
this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I guess Plax has never heard of the Franchise Tag. The window this year to Franchise a player is between February 20th and March 5th. Free agency starts on March 13th. If we don't have a deal done with Drew ...

I guess Plax has never heard of the Franchise Tag. The window this year to Franchise a player is between February 20th and March 5th. Free agency starts on March 13th. If we don't have a deal done with Drew before March 5th he will be Franchised and we'll continue to work on a deal. He will never hit free agency and no team will ever have the option to offer him a deal. So even if Snyder wanted to give him the biggest contract in NFL history he'll never get the chance. I'm not worried at all about Drew leaving. I'm way more concerned with trying to get both Colston and Nicks back. Now getting Drew signed before March 5th is huge so we can use the Franchise Tag on Colston or Nicks.

drew wants another ring and he knows his best chance of that is with the saints. especially with the hiring of spags. drew wont say it but he knows it was the defense that kept them out this yr. with all the peices in place he will stay i n.o and make another run at it

In a pathetic grasp at relevance, Burress attached his name to the rocketship Brees.
That's all it is. It was just an effort to get someone to blurt his name in the offseason. Otherwise it would NEVER happen. Unless, of course he shot himself in the offseason. Alaska |
