Colston is not that marketable. He has one skill, catching short passes (10-15 yds). Why would a team pay top dollar when you can get a receiver that can do that plus stretch the field and return kicks in a pinch. As a lot of you have said, he works great in Payton's offense but somewhere else...without a supporting cast I'm willing to bet his production would fall way off.

And Colston knows this, so his 'no hometown discount' may be a bluff. Unless Brees asks for a ridiculous amount, the Saints will pay him what he wants/is worth. Nicks will stay because he protects Brees. Unless Colston goes for money, I believe he will stay with the Saints. He has to realize that he was (potentially), 1:37 minutes away from is 2nd Super Bowl appearance and most likely win. Staying with the Saints gives him his best shot at getting to his 2nd Super Bowl. |
