Saints: Who could stay and who could go - Receivers, Specialists
Saints: Who could stay and who could go - Receivers, Specialists | wwltv.com New Orleans
Receivers and Specialists: Receiver: Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Robert Meachem, Devery Henderson, Adrian Arrington, Courtney Roby Specialists: Thomas Morstead, John Kasay, Justin Drescher, Garrett Hartley Colston: The biggest question in the receiver group, and indeed in all of the skill positions, is what happens with Colston. He’s due for a big raise and contract and will certainly get looked at by other teams. But if the Saints can come to an agreement with Brees prior to free agency, Colston might be available for the franchise tag (which also could go to LG Carl Nicks). Despite not playing in two games with a broken collarbone, Colston still finished with 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s one Brees’ favorite targets and big, reliable receivers aren’t exactly found every day. There’s a reason his services will make him a hot commodity. In the end, what Brees wants, Brees gets and we think Brees will want Colston to return at any cost so he returns. |
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, over, and over again...and expecting a different outcome!

I'm 90% sure Brees would rather have Nicks over Colston, IF he were forced to choose. |

Colston is not that marketable. He has one skill, catching short passes (10-15 yds). Why would a team pay top dollar when you can get a receiver that can do that plus stretch the field and return kicks in a pinch. As a lot of you have said, he works great in Payton's offense but somewhere else...without a supporting cast I'm willing to bet his production would fall way off.

He averages about 1 yard less per catch than Henderson and Meachem and 2 yards more than Lance. |

Another thing, who is going to make perfect back shoulder passes every single time. |

Plus who are we going to find that can catch the tough passes over the middle when he gets hit as soon as you catch it, colston is a beast and yeah brees does throw him open sometimes, but if colston left you would undoubtebly see the drop off in offensive production
