I expect a trade attempt of Ivory or Thomas at RB especially if Ingram and Cadet progresses...

I mention Thomas because he would net the most in a trade; I'm not hating on the guy, just looking at scenarios where we could trade an abundance for a need...
I see needs at OL, CB, TE... |
Re: 2012 New Orleans Saints Depth Chart
If Cadet continues to play well, I can see them trading Ivory. He would have some trade value. I don't think they'd trade Thomas, he's too much a part of the offense. He's got a style that would be very hard to replace.

Fenuki Tupou has been playing at the RG position in the 2nd string O-line in both of the preseason games this far, so my guess would be that he's the guy at the moment. Olsen has been playing at the LG position, and Tennant has been at center, but also saw some snaps against the Pats at the LG position with the 2nd string O-line. |

You have Elbert Mack making the team, but not Marquis Johnson who has been probably the best CB the Saints have had in the first two preseason games?! And I would pencil in Amaya as the fourth safety before Nelson, because he has looked much improved from last season, and did a fine job against the Pats. Also, I think they are projecting Brown to be the sub at LT and Jones to be the sub at RT, at least that is how they've played those guys up to this point in the preseason. |

Re: 2012 New Orleans Saints Depth Chart
Going off of what the team has published online and disregarding those that are most likely not to be a part of the opening day roster, we are at ten (10) over the fifty-three (53) roster limit...
Injuries at Wide Receiver and the addition of veteran Greg Camallaro has made projections at this position very cloudy; don't see a team with both Roby and Morgan on it (and then you've got Sproles et al Running Backs to help in the Return Game - so Roby has to show something in the WR position; the team seems high on Nick Toon despite his time in the training room, don't think Arrington will be shown the same tolerance despite his flashes; Camarillo has history of production and could round up the squad; Devery, a local, fan favorite could also be exposed because of his cap number.... The play of Travaris Cadet will also have a signicant impact not only at the RB position, but at other positions because he lessens the load of other RB's who can also contribute in the return game; while Ivory has had a good history with the same and is a proven commodity, Cadet to date seems to have earned a 53-man roster spot... What looked very promising at the LB position despite the challenged, pending suspension of MLB Jon Vilma, has seen both depth and quality erode quickly because of preseason injuries; depending on what he's got left in the tank, Barrett Rudd looks like an opportune move by the front office... Saints coaching staff must really like to screw with the heads of cornerbacks or Johnny Patrick has suddenly fallen out of favor or the play of new additions Marquis Johnson and Corey White will make the departure of Tracy Porter easier for fans to take... |

Re: 2012 New Orleans Saints Depth Chart
I said it in many threads recently that they would not cut Hall, because he is McMahon's golden boy and can step right in to replace Collins if he gets hurt.
They really do need a backup FB for Kromer's running schemes and while David Thomas can presumably play as a FB, I wouldn't want to put him there with his recent troubles with concussions. |

I'm especially glad to see Higgins, Tanner and Broughton make the PS along with the other guys. Interesting to see them pick up another Nebraska O-lineman in Henry, it sure panned out well with Nicks and they drafted Marcel Jones out of Nebraska too this year, so there must be something they put in the water over there. Nelson didn't really flash for me in the preseason, but I trust your evaluation on him and hopefully he can become a contributor in the coming years along with the other safety Bush. |

Prepped at Destrehan; played in the SEC at Arkansas; he was a very good Safety - it's just that LSU and Alabama had better... He's just a little undersized, not an exceptional burner; but he's a great football player; he may need some time to learn the pro game and this could be the spot... |
