NEW ORLEANS -- I am writing today using the premise that quarterback Drew Brees will be back with the New Orleans Saints next season armed with a new multi-year, mega-buck contract.
The same cannot be said with certainty about the team's other two marquee free agents -- Pro Bowl left guard Carl Nicks and perennial 1,000-yard wide receiver Marques Colston. Where they end up playing next year and for seasons to come remains to be seen. http://www.sportsnola.com/sports/sai...arl-nicks.html |

If I had to choose between the two and only one could stay; it would have to be Carl Nicks.

This is going to get tough, it's not like both players don't produce, they do and do it well, I hope we can get both back, call me greedy I don't want to choose. I would trim the fat on the D, maybe shave it, and bring both back or tag one {Nicks} so what if it pi$$'es him off, who hasn't been that way, then see about working out a deal and if he becomes a cancer deal him for picks, everybody wins.

You don't think the offense could pick up the slack with Meachem, Arrington, Graham & the short passing game if Colston can't be signed? I do, and maybe get a WR in the draft if you have to, but signing Nicks would be the priority in this case, IMO.

Franchise Nicks, sign Colston. We are deeper at WR but I think Colston is a long term reciever worth signing.

I agree we need both of these guy's unless Payton and the scout team can find a diamond in the rough WR. I love Colston and I would want him to stay he has the right attitude for this team.

Some players have a tendency to slack-off once they get their big payday. For whatever reason, I feel like it is more likely for a linemen than a skill player to get complacent. That reason, and the fact that Colston has been extraordinarily consistent, makes me lean toward Colston.
