Speculation is brewing on whether or not Andrew (“Drew”) Christopher Brees will be resigned by the New Orleans Saints.
Sigh! Let’s pause and consider a few things that will keep him in the Big Easy: First, let’s thank the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins. Both franchises signaled to Drew that he was not their first choice, and neither team took action to affirm that they believed in him. That’s when Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton brought him in for an interview… the rest is history: Impact of San Diego’s decision: Drew Brees: A 'Call from God' Helped Break NFL Passing Record, Christian News Impact of Miami’s decision: Dolphins' decision worked out for Brees, Saints - NFL - Yahoo! Canada Sports After reading those two articles, it should be clear that Drew’s arrival in New Orleans was a matter of destiny. He has mentioned many times that coming to the Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast was more than chance or luck. He believes in his heart of hearts that God wanted him to be a New Orleans Saint, and that he played a part (however large or small) in the recovery effort. Not only that, but when you are as competitive as Drew has been all his life, as well as a winner at the High School, Collegiate and Pro level, when a team affirms you (as he said the Saints did), it means more than mere dollars in a contract. Check out this Katie Couric interview with Drew & Brittany Brees: During the 2011 NFL lockout, Drew’s leadership was on full display. Yes, he was outspoken about the slow pace of negotiations. But he didn’t let that keep him from doing whatever it takes to get his team ready for the regular season. You CANNOT coach such an attitude into a player: Many reading this article could come up with many other reasons why Drew will remain a Saint (…and I welcome you to post your thoughts in fan comments at the bottom). But one of my main reasons is the unique relationship that Drew has with head coach Sean Payton. I cannot recall a better synergy of player-coach than Brees-Payton. They are on the same page in so many ways. And if that isn’t enough, add the Mickey Loomis factor. Loomis has found a way to resign key players for the team time-after-time. There is NO WAY he will let one of the greatest QB’s in NFL history (who is still in his prime) get away to help another team. NO WAY!!! Who Dat! Last edited by papz; 02-16-2012 at 02:14 PM.. |

Then Mickey needs to break out the checkbook and start adding zero's "0's" until Brees says "stop."" Thank you Mickey, I'll see all of you at training camp." " I cut you some slack so you can sign Nicks and Colston back".

In my book he is already a Saint and always will be. If he never signs another contract (God forbid) with the New Orleans Saints, he will always be a Saint for what he has given to the city of New Orleans and its people on and off the field. God blessed him not only with the talent to play football, but also to lead a city back from what most people considered dead. I truly believe as he does that his coming to the city of NEw Orleans was not just a coincidence and that some how God had his hand on it. I only hope that he gets resigned and retires a Saint and then possibly goes into some sort of work in which he can continue to help the people of New Orleans..

I don't care why, I honestly already know why without even reading this frustrating crap ( sorry if this sounds harsh it isn't meant to be im a little miffed by how many of these stories pop up because right now nobody knows anything.) I am more concerned about WHEN!!!!! It's not happening fast enough for me or any Saints fan for that matter!!!!

Alleycat: That's what fans do... they voice their opinion, and you voiced yours. We always welcome candid, straight-up remarks.
Yes, it's frustrating that the Saints haven't gotten it done yet. But IIRC, neither have any of the other 31 teams... at least, not yet. |

If anyone thinks that drew is not coming back they are crazy stupid. There is absolutely no reason to get worked up over this.
