Carl Nicks 'disheartened' by lack of contract talks
Updating a previous item, free agent LG Carl Nicks says he's "disheartened" by the fact that the Saints have not yet tried to re-sign him.The Saints are currently mapping out their offseason, but they didn't reach out to Nicks during the 2011 season, either. "They never talked to me at all about it really, which I thought was kind of weird," Nicks said. "I talked to (GM Mickey Loomis) the last day before exit meetings, and he said they were going to do their best to try to keep me. So that's the gist of contract talks." Feb 2 - 8:30 AM

I am disheartened by all the BS about our free agents without any actual facts.

"Give the Saints some credit, though. Remember last year, when they had close to 30 unsigned players. Management did a great job of keeping the team together. The Saints have some smart people in the front office working on these problems."

I like that, that right there has to tell you everything is going to be alright ... it's brilliant on Brees' part too, 'take one for the team' if the Saints can get the job done, but leave it open to take care of himself if they can't ...

The only way we use a franchise tag is after Brees is signed, or on Brees himself if negotiations with Condon get nasty. |

Have to sign Brees first, see whats left, then move onto Colston/Nicks. Drew is first priority.
