Defensive Draft, and slight changes, not an overhaul

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I've eased my stance since the season ended for the saints. We were not the worst Defense in the league. I do not think that a complete overhaul is in the cards for us. We just don't have the cheese ...

I've eased my stance since the season ended for the saints. We were not the worst Defense in the league. I do not think that a complete overhaul is in the cards for us. We just don't have the cheese ( sorry GB fans ) We can be a lights out d with what we have and a strong draft and free agency period though.

As always,
1. Sign the guys we want to keep at fair value.
2. Address weaknesses with mid-tier free agents that fit our sytem.
3. Draft BPA.

Thats the recipe for long term success.

If a high dollar stud player becomes available that is a perfect fit (Vilma, Greer, Sharper, etc) then we pull the trigger, but only if its a really great fit for us.

We just don't have the cap room for a complete overhaul on the defensive side.

It's going to be interesting to see how Spagnoula handles the players we have, and I'm excited to see how Flajole works with the secondary. He worked wonders with the Rams last year, when they had serious IR troubles

You can't help but be excited at the possibility of what we can do this year. With Spags and Flajole I don't see how we can get any worse than last year. I gurentee you the Giants fans were asking the exact same things that a lot of our fans are in regards to what we THINK we have, back when they first got Spags. Can't wait for the season to get here!!
