Kurt Warner just won me over with his take on all of this. He maned up and said the hit was legal, and that is a part of football. He could have just as easily said the Saints were out to end his career.

"Bounty Bowl" 1989 .... Eagles vs Cowboys .... Thanksgiving Day .... Head Coach Buddy Ryan (PHI) put bounties out on Cowboys QB Troy Aikman and kicker Luis Zendejas. That's right, he put a bounty on a kicker. Zendejas was knocked out of the game and the Eagles won 27-0.
Williams was the linebackers coach for the Houston Oilers under then defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan from 1994 - 1996. Williams is now embroiled in a 'bounty' controversy ... coincidence? I think not. Damn straight bounties have been around for a long time. |

Peyton Manning's original neck injury occurred during a 2006 game against the Washington Redskins. Who was the defensive coordinator for the Redskins? Greg Williams. Funny, that Redskin defense ranked 30th the league.
As this unfolds, it's going to be more about Greg Williams then an indictment on the Saints. He undoubtedly did this with every team he coached for which includes Houston, Tennessee, Buffalo, Washington, Jacksonville & New Orleans. More players are coming out saying it's part of the game on every team in the league. It's not exclusive to N'awlins. |

Yep, Damien Woody (NE/DET/NYJ) came out and admitted bounties were part of the league ... played G/T for the Lions 04-07.
Funny thing again, the Lions went 6-10, 5-11, 3-13 and 7-9 during that period, never finishing above third in the NFC North and having some of the worst defenses in the league. Some 'bounty' system, (allegedly). Other then that, I don't recall the Lions being referred to as a 'dirty team', |
