Saints | Gold Visits - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 7 Apr 2004 11:36:15 -0700 The New Orleans Saints have announced the team had free agent LB Ian Gold (Broncos) in for a visit Wednesday, April 7. I thought they weren't interested in Gold. Reports were that Gold was way under 220 now and not exactly 100% recovered. Oh well. I'll just wait and see what happens. Any current info on Gold? |

It would be great to get Ian Gold. I believe he could play inside, and then we could worry about getting a weakside linebacker, or maybe a safety in the second round.

Why is this for me? I am happy about it though. Nice to see. Now we just have to sign him.

If the saints signed Gold I would say that they had a really good FA period

But he\'d be an ideal LB to back-up or replace Rodgers. We\'d then draft a SLB like Donterrious Thomas. Oh Yea..., my adrenaline is pumping now... |

Ian Gold visits again (4-WhoDat)
Hype was pretty huge around Gold at the beginning of free agency, then his weight was down and teams started talking about his lingering injuries. Last I heard the Saints and many other teams had decided to pass on him.
This could be a very interesting development. Gold\'s stock goes down and so does his price. The Saints sign a guy with great potential (and a proven season two years ago) for a comfortable price. Hope this pans out. p.s. We should still draft Rod Davis in the 2nd. :P .02 |

And From USA Today… NEEDS/DRAFT PRIORITIES: LB: The Falcons remain interested in UFA WLB Ian Gold, late of Denver. He visited with Falcons officials March 10. The reason for the Falcons\' interest is speed. Gold has a lot of it, although has he comes off a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament, there\'s no way to be certain his playing style will be the same. Coach Jim Mora and other staffers consider the WLB position as important as any in the Atlanta defense. There are a few very fast LBs in the draft, but the Falcons don\'t seem likely to select one in the first round. |
